Christina Applegate smoking after double mastectomy?

As photos surface of actress Christina Applegate smoking a cigarette in Los Angeles yesterday, a source tells THE INSIDER, “Christina had been a smoker for quite sometime. She stopped smoking when she received her health news last year, but as everyone knows it’s a difficult to break an addictive smoking habit. Considering all the stress she’s had over the years, she had that occasional weak moment which has led to the occasional cigarette. We need to remember she’s only human.”

Non-smokers get cancer ALL the time. Really, all the pesticides in our food, polution in the air, etc. everyone will have SOME form of cancer in their lifetime – be it benign or malignant.
PLUS, if someone has a life-threatening illness or disease – isn’t it THEIR choice what they do with their own bodies????

Smoking allows the lungs to carry carcinogens to every single cell of one’s body.
It is very bad.
It is that simple.

There’s no such thing as “benign cancer”.

If you continue to smoke with everything we know about cancer and it’s causes, AND after both your breasts removed… you are just helping purify the population by getting rid of yourself.
Survival of the fittest.

Leave Christina alone and get a life yourself! Stop worrying about what someone else is doing and look at yourself, you self rightous humanoids. I’m sick of 25% of the population telling the rest of the country what to do. You’ve got problems if all you worry about is someone smoking. REAL PROBLEMS.

Obviously, a lot of people know very little about the human anatomy.
@Em: Nope. Sorry, that’s not true. There are carcinogens in everything, as Jbo said, from the carbon black on your charbroiled chicken to the hairspray you apply liberally every night before bed.
@Joe: Also wrong. Cancer is, essentially, a spread of rapidly-replicating cells. Benign cancer is when those cells have no propensity to either spread or destroy the cells in their path.
@Biff: Harsh, man.
Just too harsh. Not cool.

Honestly… Would you care if it was just a regular person? Or is it b/c she is a star? If anyone is going to care, they should care regardless if the person is an actor or a stay at home mom… Everyone knows only busy bodies care about what the celebrities are doing! LOL!

Yes I WOULD care if she wasn’t famous. I care every time I see anyone smoke, and judge them- because it’s stupid. I’ve had cancer 3 times, and none of mine were due to any preventable cause, or environmental factors. If we KNOW of one preventable cancer, why not PREVENT it? Yes quitting is hard. Smoking is addictive. Sack up and quit.

From the American Cancer Society:
“Tobacco use accounts for at least 30% of all cancer deaths and 87% of lung cancer deaths.”
“Besides lung cancer, tobacco use also causes increased risk for cancer of the mouth, nasal cavities (nose), larynx (voice box), pharynx (throat), esophagus (swallowing tube), stomach, liver, pancreas, kidney, bladder, uterine cervix, and acute myeloid leukemia.”
It’s not just about what this celebrity is doing to herself; it’s also the message she’s sending to her fans.

I would recommend people now switch to the concept of electronic smoking. I use it and am very happy to quit real smoking.
