Usher has apologized for saying that Chris Brown should “have a little remorse” after the 19-year-old singer — who allegedly assaulted girlfriend Rihanna — was photographed jet skiing in Miami last weekend.

In a video for Jermaine Dupri’s “Living the Life” series, Usher says he is “a little disappointed” after seeing the shots of Brown vacationing. “Have a little bit of remorse, man,” he is overheard saying.

But in a statement late Tuesday, Usher says:

“The comments made during a recent recording session amongst friends were taken out of context and blown out of proportion. I apologize on behalf of myself and my friends if anyone was offended. The intentions were not to pass judgment and we meant no harm. I respect and wish the best for all parties involved.”

Brown is to be arraigned Thursday for allegedly assaulting Rihanna Feb. 8 in L.A.

Britney Spears kicked off her first tour in five years Tuesday night in her home state of Louisiana at the New Orleans Arena before a nearly sold-out crowd.

Dressed as a sexy ringmaster, she gyrated and pranced on stage during the the 16-song show that lasted nearly two hours.

She kicked things off with the title track to her latest album, Circus, and then sang “Piece of Me,” which she performed in a cage — just one of the many elaborate stage backdrops.

Acrobats twirled from suspended fabric as a toned Spears sang and danced.

She also sported a blindfold — and got saucy with two male dancers — as she sang “Touch of My Hand.”

The show slowed down in the middle when she belted out the ballad, “Everytime,” as the audience sang along.

Even though Spears didn’t interact much with the audience (and appeared to be lip-synching at times), fans went wild as she performed hits like “Womanizer” (in a cop costume) and her classic “Baby One More Time.”

At the end of the show, she told the crowd, “Thank you, New Orleans.”

Fans couldn’t stop Twittering during the show, with several messages appearing on her official Web site.

“8:58pm: she’s really excited!!! dancing away telling us goodbye! Have a good night!” one fan wrote.

Added another: “8:30pm: You can really tell she is having fun!”

Next stop for Spears: She will perform at the Philips Arena in Atlanta on Thursday.
