Dakota Fanning joins New Moon…as Jane?
Dakota Fanning…with fangs?
It’s possible. E!Online can exclusively report that the 14-year-old child star—she turns 15 on Feb. 23—is in talks to play Jane opposite Robert Pattinson & Co. in New Moon, the upcoming sequel to box office megahit Twilight.
“There were no auditions,” a source reveals. “They just offered it to her outright, and now they’re in negotiations. They’ve been going back and forth.”
Jane is a member of Italy’s Volturi, the most deadly group of bloodsucking killers in author Stephenie Meyer’s best-selling series.
In the casting notice we got our hands on earlier this month, Jane is described as a petite blonde with a “Botticelli angel-like face…[and] crimson irises.” While fellow Volturi guards Demetri & Felix “are three times the size of her, they are terrified of her,” the casting notice reads.
Coincidentally (or maybe not), an online petition started by a Twilight fan already asks the studio, Summit Entertainment, to cast Fanning because she would be “perfect” for the role.
Early last month, Entertainment Weekly suggested Pushing Daisies star and Broadway diva Kristin Chenoweth. “Her voice is certainly high enough, and at 4’11”, she’s also short enough,” writer Amy Wilkinson proposed.
Director Chris Weitz is expected to start shooting New Moon in March in the U.S. and Italy. If all goes as planned, the movie will hit theaters on Nov. 20.

kristen chenoweth makes NO sense, as much as i love her. i’m not really a fan of fanning in the role either, but as jane’s supposed to be around 15, it’s a fair bit more logical.

I am strangely ok with this casting… she’s a decent actress and it would be fun to watch her get all pissed off in the 4th movie when she can’t get past Bella’s sheild haha

now they need to replace the other vampires especially bobble head Pattinson and that Mexican they bleached out to make white.

I think they could all be a bit more passionate with their rolls. It seemed like they just threw the movie together at the last minute and it jumped around a lot. At the end of the movie when Bella was in the hospital it was a shock when she freaked out. Not like the book when you knew what she was feeling and you were waiting for her to beg Edward to stay with her.
I think Dakota would do a great job, she can turn into a character so well that she would become our definition of Jane.

Good to see they are getting more serious with their casting choices. (I guess it’s too late to replace Kristen Stewart? meh)

A couple months ago i saw this Youtube fan vid on the Volturi and the maker had cast Dakota and a young actor (cant remember who) as Jane and Felix and in the comments everyone was going mad saying you cant use Dakota and now here’s this piece of news! Think she’d be great, she’s definitely what id picture Jane to be and she’s a great actor too. *Ok just had a look on youtube and seems every fan vid casts Dakota…* lol

The performance given by the twilight cast was breath taking if you are a hard core twilight fan. Author Stephenie Meyer hit the jackpot with all the twilight merchandise as well as fans seeing the movie more than once or twice.
I would hope director Chris Weitz casts Dakota Fanning for Jane, young vampire of the Voulterri. However with most rumors about the movie New Moon today you can never be sure. Please don’t think that just because the fans wanted Taylor Lautner and got him means if they want Dakota they’ll get her.
Please don’t beleive anything not confirmed on Stephenie Meyers website. [URL below] The much anticipated sequal to the extremely succesful box office sensation Twilight, New Moon, has the most rumors flying than any other sequal before. Please be aware the rumors are NOT likley to subside until after the final movie, Breaking Dawn, which is planned to hit the big screen late 2010.

Finally an actor who’ll be able to pull off the part. I didn’t think the orginal cast meshed well. But maybe my expectations were too high.

Kristen definitely doesn’t make any sense. While she IS short and has a high pitched voice, she’s also older. Jane (and most of the vampires, minus the Ancient Ones) is young looking. Very pure and innocent looking-even though she’s neither of those. But i think Dakota would do a good job. I hope she gets it.
