Nicole Kidman Admits Embarrassment Over Australia Role

Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman says she isn’t happy with her performance in the critical and commercial flop Australia.
“I can’t look at this movie and be proud of what I’ve done,” Kidman, 41, told Sydney radio station 2dayFM.
At the Sydney premiere of the Baz Luhrmann-directed epic, “I sat there, and I looked at Keith [Urban] and went, ‘Am I any good in this movie?’” she said.
“But I thought Brandon Walters and Hugh Jackman were wonderful,” Kidman continued. “It’s just impossible for me to connect to it emotionally at all.”
She went on to say that she only went to the film’s premiere to support her director. “I don’t usually see my films, but because of Baz I had to see it,” she said. “I saw Moulin Rouge. I’ve really only seen that and this in my whole career. It gets worse as I get older.”
After the film (which has earned a paltry $47 million in the U.S. since opening last November) was released, Kidman said she immediately fled her native country to avoid the critics.
“We ran because I didn’t want to read anything. I didn’t want to know,” she said. “I saw my sister and my family and we saw Keith’s family and then we were straight on a plane.”

What a load of crap!! It’s a GREAT movie and I’m sick of other countries that don’t get the Aussie outback or culture and therefore say it wasn’t any good. I think there should be proper critics watching these movies from other countries other than the US.. U can have a crap yank movie and it gets rave reviews! Sick of it!

It’s kind of odd to hear her say that, mainly because she is such a great actress. But I can only emphathize with seeing yourself on-screen. That would be a trip.
