Leighton Meester: New Album Will Be “Edgy”

What will Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester’s upcoming debut album sound like?
“The music is very fun,” Meester, 22, tells February’s Teen Vogue. “It’s edgy, like electro-pop rather than bubblegum, and you can dance to it.”
The album — which she first talked about to Usmagazine.com in February — is due next spring.
Despite her new side gig, Meester has no plans to say bye to her hit CW show Gossip Girl.
Out of all of her costars, Ed Westwick “is my favorite actor to work with,” she tells Teen Vogue. “We have really good chemistry.”
Meester — who recently denied engagement rumors to beau Sebastian Stan — also opened up about being born to a mother who was sentenced to 10 years in prison for smuggling marijuana.
“I wouldn’t have volunteered that information, but I’ve never kept it a secret either,” Meester says. “It’s just not my past; it’s not my story to tell.
“I wasn’t born in jail; I was born in a hospital,” she stresses. “I lived with my mother for a few months in a halfway house, and then I went to stay with my grandmother for a few more before my mom got out. But I had a normal life.”
