Kelly Rutherford Says She’s Still Breastfeeding Her 2-Year-Old Son

Kelly Rutherford says she’s preparing for the summer arrival of her second child with hubby Daniel Giersch — and at the same time, breast-feeding 2-year-old son Hermes.
“It’s an amazing bond with your child,” says the Gossip Girl star, 40. “Some cultures do it up to five years, normally. I thought, ‘Well, I’ll just do it as long as it feels right for my son.’”
What’s more, she says, “I was thinner after my pregnancy than before, and I think a lot of it was the nursing. They say it helps your body get back to shape in a natural way.”

My daughter stopped nursing at 30 months. It’s a personal decision and not an easy thing to make your child give it up. My daughter NEVER used a bottle. Now she’s 3 1/2 and can barely remember when she used to “ba-ba”. I never wanted to feed her formula-have you ever read those labels and we saved lots of money. It’s a great option I encourage new moms to try.

I have three kids and while I tried to nurse all three, it just didnt work for me or our family. I will try again with our next child, and I totally admore those who can breastfeed until the child stops.
