All I know is Brad Pitt’s Tyler Durden was definitely the hottest movie character of all time!
Brad Pitt’s enigmatic Fight Club antihero Tyler Durden has been crowned the Greatest Movie Character of All Time.
Pitt’s turn as Durden beat Star Wars‘ Darth Vader into second place to top the poll by Empire magazine.
Third spot was taken by Heath Ledger’s The Joker in Batman movie The Dark Knight, while Star Wars’ Han Solo came fourth, and serial killer Hannibal Lecter from The Silence of the Lambs was in fifth place.
The top ten was rounded out by Indiana Jones, The Dude from The Big Lebowski, Pirates of the Caribbean’s Jack Sparrow, Ellen Ripley from the Alien movies, and The Godfather icon Vito Corleone.

Don’t people watch the old classics anymore? How about Rick in “Casablanca,” Scarlett and/or Rhett in “Gone with the Wind,” or Atticus Finch in “To Kill a Mockingbird?” This list is mostly okay, but there are some amazing characters and performances before 1970 that should be recognized.

I think it;s stupid to compile a “greatest” list. Obviously, these people can be group into alpha males that watch certain types of movies, and need to say “oh yeah man, he’s so awesome” instead of just appreciating everyone. Seriously, I wouldn’t be able to name the greatest character in Rocky Horror Picture Show even though Dr. Frank is an obvious choice. People who need these lists are dumb.

Totally with you Polly. Atticus Finch is one of my all time favs too.
Suprised about Dude though. And very impressed to be honest!
No idea what the basis for ‘greatest’ is… Obviously it has more to do with a nerds wetdream than actual brilliance. Ripley? OH COMMON. If you want to nerd it up (which i dont really appriciate), how about our horror character friends? Where’s Freddy? Michael? They’re FAR more interesting than RIPLEY. She’s totally boring!
Star Wars? Common man! WTF? That shit aint art. Sure, its FUN and silly fantasy entertainment, but its not art. its certainly not worthy of having multiple entries on this list.
