Totally agree with Amy…. it DOES look like HBC!!
I don’t care if he’s in woman’s clothing, pirates garb, fat suit, or nothing at all. Johnny’s awesome. Can’t wait for this movie to come out.
And one more thing. About those dark circles under his you know where. What is the story with the Mad Hatter? He is mad. Does he not sleep? It’s pretty scary stuff for the little ones, that i worry about. Not so worried about the jaded adults. Johnny looks like the male Helena Bonham-Carter.
The story with the mad hatter is that he is forever stuck at tea time. So the dark eye circles make total sense. As for the colors almost all of Burton’s movies tend to be dark in nature so the color scheme fits right in.
wtf thinks that something is off about the sepia tones(or should we call them tea-stained?) and suggests primary colours. but it’s Tim Burton! Disney has already saturated this story with colour, and we don’t need that again. read–really, mindfully read–the book; it’s dark and nightmarish and shot through with looming threat–perfect fodder for the strangely empathetic mind of this talented director and his perfectly eccentric muse.
I am really impressed with the color choice that tim burton choose. It is the total opposite of the disney mad hatter which is all bright and colorful. I believe that this will be another one of Tim burtons successes. I for one cannot wait to see it.
I have to say that my interest is piqued! And to supplement what Justin said: that comment is narrow-minded and superficial. It’s my opinion that while the costume isn’t the most fashionable thing I’ve ever seen it not only suits the character but it’s extremely well designed. The make-up is expertly done to give an eerie and ‘mad’ feeling and the actor himself has proven multiple times that he is not only a capable performer but an extremely talented individual able to pull off many different personalities. I believe that he will be an extremely convincing and memorable mad hatter and I am very anxious to see the film. But that’s just my opinion ^_~
Only Johnny Depp can pull off something that fantastically awful.
He’s absolutely beautiful.
Plus Alice in Wonderlan is one of my favorite books ever.
Lewis Carol and his opium rock my socks off.
Helena Bonham-Carter’s with Tim Burton, not Johnny Depp.
And this pic really turns me off. He just looks so creepy. Though I’m sure that how well Tim Burton took “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” to screen from the book, that he’ll do justice to the original “Alice in Wonderland” novel.

I didn’t think Johnny’s headdress as King of the Cannibals in POTC could be topped, but this may do it!

Andrea - you said “What do I think?????
EEEWWWWWWWWW, gross makeup, Ugly costume, and he’s a fag!”
What an idiotic and pointless comment.
I for one don’t like what Tim Burton has done with the character, but unlike you, i’ll refrain from childish name calling.
