A little morning debate: To vaccinate or to not vaccinate?

Jenny McCarthy is attacking back against actress Amanda Peet after her comments in a recent magazine interview, where she called parents who choose not to vaccinate their children, parasites in an upcoming issue of Spectrum Magazine.
Even after Amanda apologized for her comments, Jenny is taking pride in being called a parasite and defending the autism community. In Spectrum’s October/ November issue Jenny says, “she has a lot of balls to come forward and be on that side, because there is an angry mob on my side, I like the fact that I can say she’s completely wrong.”
Jenny a mother of a recovered autistic child has recently led a rally of thousdands with Jim Carrey in Washington DC, this past summer, calling for the Federal Government to clean vaccines of all toxins and to change a loaded schedule that leads to the cause of autism. There are over 5000 cases of parents suing the government for improper immunization of children.
Doctors across the the nation are going after Jenny McCarthy’s crusade. According to Spectrum, The American Association of Pediatrics (AAP) put a nationwide casting call looking for a spokesperson to combat Jenny. Jenny has been gaining world wide media attention fighting against what she deems, unsafe vaccines. Amanda Peet agreed to be a spokesperson for Ever Child By Two (ECBT) because she was concerned about the information circulating throughout Hollywood.
According to Jenny “Until she walks in our shoes she has no idea?? referring to Amanda Peet. She also says that the AAP “sucks”.
National Autism Advocacy Group, Autism United, is calling for a boycott of all of Amanda Peet’s movies. “We want to send a clear message to her,” says Executive Director, John Gilmore. “Our community will not support the continued misinformation that is funneled into the media by organizations like ECBT and the AAP. We are not against vaccines, rather we are for safe vaccines. Until they understand that, we won’t back down. Ms. Peet’s comments are deplorable and an apology will not suffice. We applaud Jenny McCarthy’s continued efforts and for speaking up for our community.”
DEBATE! Let’s start a debate, shall we? Where do you stand on the vaccine issue? Both of my boys were vaccinated (but not many people questioned it 6 & 8 years ago) but if I had a newborn, I would still vaccinate now. My sister, Robyn, has decided that while she will vaccinate her new son, she won’t give him more than one/two shots at a time. I’ve heard of more people doing this – it’s easier for their little bodies to take the immunizations when they’re not given all at once. Instead of getting mass doses every six months or so, give them one – maybe two every or every other month.
What do you think?
PS: I can appreciate Jenny McCarthy, and what she’s trying to do, but man – she drives me NUTS. I saw her on Oprah last week, and I find her very annoying. That’s just my opinion, of course.

Anyone who doesn’t vaccinate their children should have them taken away.

I wouldn’t want my children to go to school with an unvaccinated child.

There is no scientific proof that vaccines cause Autism. Plain and simple. It is a theory. I have three kids under four and we will have another and they have all been vaccinated and will continue to be vaccinated. All of my research and all the articles I have read, on both sides, show that the hard-core PROOF, 100% proof just isnt there.

I would also like to say that is my feeling that the parents who choose not to vaccinate, are really counting on most parents to vacciante. If the majority of kids wern’t protected, there would be many more illnesses passed back and forth. So the ones who are vaccinated, are in a way, protecting those who arent. I think thats what Amanda Peet meant by “parasite”
Those who aren’t vaccinated are counting on most kids being vaccinated.

I am with your sister Robyn…WHEN & IF I have children, I will not vaccinate them all at once. I don’t do it to my pets and I won’t do it to my kids. No way. One at a time.

I say anorexic’s, mentally unbalanced and druggies and alcoholic’s shouldn’t have children and expect things to always be perfect in their lives. Don’t take a sick kid in for vaccination. Use your own doctor to make sure vaccination is fresh and given at right time, with physical to ensure child is healthy at time of vaccination., etc. Of all vaccinations given at free clinic in America it is rare almost unheard of for a healthy child to have life threatening reactions.
IF YOU VACCINATE ASK EIGHT QUESTIONS:
en Español
1. Is my child sick right now?
2. Has my child had a bad reaction to a vaccination before?
3. Does my child have a personal or family history of:
vaccine reactions
convulsions or neurological disorders
severe allergies
immune system disorders
4. Do I know if my child is at high risk of reacting?
5. Do I know how to identify a vaccine reaction?
6. Do I know how to report a vaccine reaction?
7. Do I know the vaccine manufacturer’s name and lot number?
8. Do I know I have a choice?

I’ll start by saying that I’m not a doctor or medical professional, however I know that autism spectrum disorders can be caused by many different factors, including genetics and environmental variables. It is unsafe to forgo vaccinations altogether and there is no scientific proof that they cause autism. This is a very scary thing for parents to go through and there’s no need to make things harder by risking a child’s life even further. Take a look at the Autism Speaks site for some reliable information about autism. http://www.autismspeaks.org/whatisit/faq.php

my oldest child is autistic. i chose to vaccinate the two children i had after him. it’s not JUST vaccines. it’s genetics, chromosomes, and not to sound simiple – but just plain bad luck. there are so many advantages of having children vaccinated – and although the # of autistic cases have rised, i still don’t think i am comfortable pointing the finger at vaccines. some people react differently to medications no matter what age. more testing and research needs to be done. more $$$ needs to go into programs to help the children who do fall under the spectrum of autism.

Jenny McCarthy is a dope. You can’t be cured from Autism. You may get better with diet changes, but it will always affect you. I think she gives people false hope. I can’t stand her when I see her on Oprah.

people need to get their facts straight. jenny is NOT saying to not get your children vaccinated…but is asking that toxins be taken out of them so they are safer for our children. i have an autistic brother who’s symptoms started after a round of immunizations when he was a toddler. i’m not saying that that’s what caused it, but i understand where Jenny is coming from. she is just trying to make immunizations less toxic – and i support moms like her and Holly Robinson Peete who have our children’s best interests at heart. calling them “parasites” is so high school – INCREDIBLY immature and makes amanda peet look ridiculous and lame, in my opinion. grow up, and at least say something somewhat profound if you have something to say. how could she be against making purer vaccinations for children? i have so much respect for jenny, holly, jim carrey, and so many others for taking this stand that should have been taken a long time ago.
