The story of John Lennon is headed for the big screen with “Nowhere Boy,” a biopic that will be directed by visual artist Sam Taylor-Wood.

Produced by U.K. shingle Ecosse Films, the script from “Control” screenwriter Matt Greenhalgh will focus on the Beatle’s childhood and subsequent journey to icon status. Filming is set to take place on location in Lennon’s hometown on Liverpool.

Greenhalgh’s script details the story of Lennon as a lonely teenager growing up as his aunt and the mother who gave him up fight for his love. His only escape is music, art and his fateful friendship with Paul McCartney.

Casting for the major roles “is under way,” the backers said of the project that is being co-developed with the U.K. Film Council.

Sales and finance house HanWay Films is handling worldwide sales and will be trying to get sellers to tune in at the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival.

“The women in John’s early life truly shaped who he became,” Taylor-Wood said, “and the strengths and weaknesses of their relationships are central to this film.”

Ecosse and HanWay also worked together on “Becoming Jane” and “Brideshead Revisited.”

Former Beverly Hills, 90210 actress Shannen Doherty has branded Tori Spelling a liar after she claimed the actress had engaged in a fistfight with co-star Jennie Garth. Spelling unleashed her wrath on Doherty in her new tome sTori Telling, calling the actress “arrogant” and a “bad influence” on the set of their hit 1990s show. And in the book, Spelling claimed Doherty had such a bad relationship with Garth, their on-set disagreements resulted in a full-on fight.

But Doherty, who will team up with alleged sparring partner Garth in the new Beverly Hills, 90210 spin-off, states Spellings tales are false.

She tells Usweekly.com, “We never did (have a fight). I think I would remember Jennie’s fist connecting with a part of my body or a part of my face”.

“It just goes to show you how people will lie.”

Spelling recently pulled out of updated Beverly Hills, 90210 spin-off 90210 shortly after Doherty signed on to join the cast.

Actress Charlize Theron fielded an unexpected question at a press conference in Venice for her new film, The Burning Plain: a marriage proposal!

“I would like to ask you something Charlize Theron,” the reporter began. “First of all, I really like you so much and have a lot of respect for you but I would like to marry you — and I have a question: which side [of the bed] do you prefer to sleep [on]?”

The 33-year-old Academy Award winner — whose longtime boyfriend is actor/director Stuart Townsend — quipped: “The side that you are not on.”

The reporter was rebuffed. “Oh, then I think it doesn’t work,” he said.

“Security! Security! Security!” Theron joked. “The man with the red… you are very cute, but you know my boyfriend will kill you.”

“I am poor,” the journalist responded.

But Theron still entertained the offer.

The Rehab hitmaker has been handed the dubious honor after being regularly pictured with spotty and scabby skin.

Victoria Beckham, who has suffered from acne, scooped second place in the survey, carried out by U.K. chemist Superdrug.

Charlie’s Angel’s star Cameron Diaz came in third place, followed by former glamour model Katie Price in fourth place.

The top five was rounded out by pop princess Britney Spears.
