Movie bosses: Tom Cruise is too old to play action star
Tom Cruise’s role in forthcoming film Edwin A. Salt has reportedly been recast for Angelina Jolie because studio bosses fear he has grown too old to play a movie hero.
It was announced earlier this week that the script would be rewritten to cater for Jolie – well known for appearing in action films such as the Tomb Raider franchise and Wanted.
According to the New York Post, the Top Gun star, 46, is no longer as marketable to youth audiences and has become too expensive to cast.
A source tells the newspaper, “Cruise is begging for MI:4 (Mission Impossible: 4)’ but Paramount wants a younger, cheaper guy. He had a tantrum and ran out of the meeting.”

If this is true, the producers are nuts. AJ is an over-actress, and makes any movie seem ridiculously silly – box office flop is forthcoming. Tom Cruise is a good actor. This just can’t be true…..

Also what about Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Swartzenager!! They are way older than Tom!! Smells like BS to me!!

I disagree, It wouldn’t surprise me at all that no one wants to waste money casting him. it’s no surprise that he is hard up for roles, and is practically begging to get a job. and what about Stallone or Nager? one is a washed up actor out of his prime and nothing could confrim that more then his last belly flop “Rambo” and Nager made a smart move by staying in the public eye via politics. he IS to old to jump cars and dodge bullets, but juuust right to run a state. and as for Jolie she is hot, and her last movie “Wanted” was awesome. they’d sell more tickets and make more money with her anyday… besides maybe that was just an easy out for the studio instead of saying “Tom, you are just a freaky loser that no one wants to work with” they said “Tom you are just old.”
