Quote of the Day: Robert Downey Jr.

Robert Downey Jr. talks about how he doesn’t understand The Dark Knight because he doesn’t have a college education:
“I feel like I’m dumb because I feel like I don’t get many things that are so smart. “(The Dark Knight) is like a Ferrari engine of storytelling and scriptwriting and I’m like, ‘That’s not my idea of what I want to see in a movie.’ “I didn’t understand The Dark Knight… I still can’t tell you what happened in the movie, what happened to the character and, in the end, they need him to be a bad guy. I’m like, ‘I get it - this is so high brow and so f**king smart, I clearly need a college education to understand this movie.’”

It is simple Robert… the Joker manage to corrupt the Man who was to respresent change for good. Harvey Dent. Think back to the killing of Jack Kennedy and the mark that left. In order to prevent the public from going through that kind of let down the Batman offered himself as sacrifical lamb. Everything Harvey did was know his fault. The public could believe good men were still alive and that Harvey was one of them. A man who could not be corrupted.

I can’t relate in a few ways. I got the whole symbolism easily because it was a quite simple film. I found the execution was not the best. The last quarter of the film was ridiculous pretentious and pompous that I felt it distracted me enough that i couldn’t enjoy it as much as I did the first 3/4. I like Iron Man and The Dark Knight the same. Iron man had RDJ and TDK had Heath, but overall (this may shock you) I enjoyed more RDJ’s performance as Stark. TDK had the better action sequences though.
