David Beckham named top U.S. sports star

David Beckham

David Beckham has been voted America’s favorite sports idol by the nation’s teenagers.

Beckham – who plays for Californian team LA Galaxy – was presented with the prestigious honor at the 2008 Teen Choice Awards which took place in Los Angeles on Sunday night.

The event, which was hosted by Miley Cyrus, saw Beckham see off competition from American-born sport stars including New York Giants football star Eli Manning to land the coveted award.

    Why is it a crock?? Most kids don’t know who Eli Manning is, but I bet they do know who “Becks” is.
