Elizabeth Taylor’s publicist plays down health scare
Elizabeth Taylor’s publicist has denied reports the actress is on death’s door – insisting she’s waiting to be discharged from hospital.
The 76-year-old is said to have been admitted to a medical center on July 15th after being diagnosed with pneumonia, but her condition reportedly worsened in the following days.
Taylor then suffered congestive heart failure on Wednesday night and was placed on a ventilation machine, according to the National Enquirer.
But the star’s spokesperson insists her health problems have been exaggerated – and that the actress’ hospital stint was a mere precaution.
The rep says, “Ms. Taylor is fine. The rumors which began in England about her health are dramatic, overstated and untrue. Her hospital visit was precautionary. She will be returning home shortly. At present, she is surrounded by family, friends and fabulous jewels.”
Taylor – who suffers from diabetes and osteoporosis – has been plagued with health problems over the last few years.
She was first diagnosed with congestive heart failure in 2004 and has endured two hip replacement operations and the removal of a benign brain tumor in 1997.
