Elisabeth Hasselbeck in Tears After ‘View’ Discussion on N-Word

“View” co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck was in tears Thursday after a discussion about the use of the n-word, in which fellow co-host Whoopi Goldberg told her the two “don’t live in the same world.”
During a segment covering Jesse Jackson’s recent use of the n-word while preparing to tape an interview on FOX News, Whoopi and co-host Sherri Shepard, who are both black, contested that the word has a different meaning for black people.
“It’s something that means something way different to me than it does to you,” said Shepard. “I can use it as a term of endearment.”
Shepard also said to co-host Barbara Walters: “I don’t want to hear it come out of your mouth.”
Hasselbeck contested that “We [blacks and whites] don’t live in different worlds, we live in the same world.”
Goldberg, who used the n-word repeatedly during the broadcast (it was bleeped out), said that “We don’t live in the same world. What I need you to understand is the frustration that goes along with when you say we live in the same world. It isn’t balanced.”
Hasslebeck tearfully replied that “when we live in a world where pop culture then uses that term, and we’re trying to get to a place where we feel like we’re in the same place, where we feel like we’re in the same world … how are we supposed to then move forward if we keep using terms that bring back that pain?”

Well, I think Elisabeth is being too naive and idealistic. As a white person, she doesn’t understand what’s it’s like to be colored person. The world is a different place to a colored person as it is from a white person. Similarly, the world is a different place to a wealthy person as it is from a poor person. There are inequalities, prejudices, less choices, etc.
Elisabeth doesn’t understand that notion.

HATE this word..I hate hearing it from anyone and I always tear up when I hear it in a movie or anything-what a backwards world we live in now-a-days that state it is okay for SOME to use that word as a form of “endearment” and not okay for others to use that word in the same term?

Elisabeth needs to stick to what she knows about: being a Republican and making babies. She knows NOTHING about the N word and should, for once, keep her mouth shut.

I CAN’T STAND ELISABETH AS IT IS, AND THIS JUST MAKES ME HATE HER MORE. SHE IS WHITE, AS WHITE AS IT GETS,HER AND WHOOP ARE LIVING IN DIFFERENT WORLDS.

Elisebeth was 100% correct on this issue. If it’s not ok for one person to say it shouldn’t be okay for another person. Let’s move on from the past people and stop acting like it’s ok for certain people to use that word. If we want to stop using it than EVERYONE needs to stop saying it. It shouldn’t even be ok for an African American to use that word!

Elisabeth is the only thing that’s wrong with The View. She is poison. She doesn’t deserve to have any airtime and should be summarily dismissed to live her pathetic life out as the trash that she is.

I don’t watch the view, unless I know for sure Elisabeth won’t be on. You have 4 intelligent women and a 10 year old child(Elisabeth). (No offense to any 10 year olds.)
