Desperate Housewives News and Spoilers

SPOILERS AFTER THE JUMP!!
– Gabrielle (Eva Longoria) will remain frumpy for at least half the season, which suits Longoria just fine. “I love it because I come into hair and makeup and it’s 10 minutes instead of two hours,” Longoria said. She’s sporting a shorter hairstyle she got for the role.
– Susan (Teri Hatcher) is with a new man (Gale Harold) but she’s less desperate for love. “Susan was a person who was always like, ‘Please love me.’ Now for many reasons that will be revealed, she is probably a person who’s more closed off to love and not so searching and needy,” Hatcher said. Series creator Marc Cherry said Hatcher had the idea for Susan’s first scene after the opening credits in the season premiere, which will air Sept. 28. The new season will also reveal what became of Mike Delfino (James Denton).
– Carlos (Ricardo Antonio Chavira) is still blind “for a while,” Cherry said, suggesting perhaps that his sight will be restored.
– Gay neighbors Bob (Tuc Watkins) and Lee (Kevin Rahm) still live on Wisteria Lane and they now have a four-year-old daughter. Cherry said adding them to the show was “just my commentary on how a gay couple moves in and nothing much happens.”
– Bree (Marcia Cross) will get out of the house more but she’ll still be surrounded by muffins as a Martha Stewart-like entrepreneur. Her son Andrew (Shawn Pyfrom) works as her assistant and he may get a relationship in the second half of the season. Cherry said making Andrew a gay character was an opportunity to steal a scene from his own life in the first season. “The only ugly moment with my mother is when I came out and she was concerned that she wouldn’t see me in heaven,” Cherry said. He said he made Andrew act out against Bree when she said that as a way to exorcise his own anger and hurt feelings.

Desperate Kids Recast: The New Parker and Penny
Joshua Moore is set to play Parker, the oldest son. Charles and Max Carver will play trouble-making twins Porter and Preston, respectively, and Kendall Applegate has signed on as Penny, the youngest child and only daughter.
In last season’s finale, the ABC soap surprised viewers when it jumped ahead five years. The three sons will now be teenagers, while the daughter is around 8 or 9 years old. The kids previously were played by Zane Huett (Parker), Shane and Brent Kinsman (Porter and Preston) and Darien and Kerstin Pinkerton (Penny).
I REALLY doubt that is Parker, he looks way too old. And I can’t find pics of the ginger twins. Sadface.

THE SKINNY: DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES creator Marc Cherry says the ABC series will be over after Season 7 at today’s TCA Press Tour.
“I made a decision after seven years, I will probably keel over in a hump and die,” says Cherry. “I love my baby and I love working with these gals and the idea of having someone take it from me — it’s my thing, [I want to] take it through seven years and get out while people still like us.”
Of course, as is the case with hit network series, never say never.
“This could also be some clever ruse on my part to get incredibly large sums of money for Season 8,” Cherry says with a smile.
As for creative decisions, the new show is officially “five years later,” and Cherry admits he was even considering moving it seven years ahead untilfellow executive producer Bob Daily said to him: “Are you going to talk in and tell these women you’re going to be seven years older?”
And while the five year flash forward will be the new format, there will be an occasional flashback to fill in some storytelling gaps when necessary.
“There’s some bouncing [to flashbacks], but it’s five years ahead and we’re committing to it,” confirms Daily.
