Bosses at a school funded by Hollywood actor Will Smith have denied students are to be given lessons in Scientology.
The Independence Day star is a close friend of outspoken Scientologist Tom Cruise and was recently forced to deny rumors he too has enrolled in the Church of Scientology.
And Smith, who has founded the New Village Academy in Los Angeles along with his wife Jada Pinkett Smith, was also rumored to have instructed teachers at his new school to preach the controversial faith to pupils.
But academy director Jacqueline Olivier has denied the allegations - insisting the school will not focus on any religion in particular.
She says, “We are a secular school, and just like all nonreligious independent schools, faculty and staff do not promote their own religions at school or pass on the beliefs of their particular faith to children.”
The school is due to open in September.

Alicia Keys has decided she wants to retire by the age of 30 - so she can spend the rest of her life travelling the world.
The 27-year-old star often finds herself exasperated by the pressures of fame and in 2006 she took a break from music and travelled to Egypt to recuperate. And the Fallin’ hitmaker insists that she hopes to be able to bow out of the entertainment industry in the next few years, so she can start enjoying her time.
She says, “I am working hard now so I have the choice to retire when I want. I would like to travel the world and stay in places instead of having to move on like I do now. I want to experience difference cultures.”

Lily Allen fought back the tears during her appearance at the U.K.’s Glastonbury festival this weekend - taking to the stage just hours after her beloved grandmother passed away.
Allen was booked to make an appearance at the event alongside superproducer Mark Ronson on Sunday night but her performance was thrown into jeopardy with the news that her elderly relative - mother of Allen’s actor father Keith - died on Saturday.
But Allen surprised organisers by keeping her promise to sing at the festival and appeared in an emotional state as she took to the stage. Before launching into a moving rendition of her hit song Littlest Things, she told the crowd, “My Nana Allen died last night. This is for Nana Allen. I love you.”

Mark Ronson was shocked when David Hasselhoff complimented him on his musical talents and asked to work with him - but was forced to turn down the singer/actor because he was too busy.
The superproducer was left stunned when the former Baywatch star asked him to collaborate on a song when the two met at California’s recent Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.
But Ronson, who has worked with stars including Lily Allen and Amy Winehouse, had no choice but to refuse Hasselhoff’s request.
He says, “He came up and was like, ‘Hey, I really love your stuff,’ and I was just taken aback. He stayed and watched our show and said that he’s got some new TV show and wanted me to produce a song with him. But I’m a bit busy right now!”

Leonardo DiCaprio has settled a court battle over the construction of a basketball court at his Hollywood home.
The Titanic star and his cousin Robert Hrtica, from whom DiCaprio rents the Hollywood Hills home, were sued by neighbors Ronald and Joan Linclau last May for allegedly causing damage to their property.
The Linclaus alleged DiCaprio “maliciously” cut and removed hedges; excavated “earth, granite and bedrock”, destabilizing their deck and swimming pool; and ignored their repeated requests to halt the 2004 construction.
They attempted to sue for trespass, nuisance and negligence and sought $250,000 in compensation.
But the legal dispute has now been solved according to a notice of settlement filed with the Los Angeles Superior Court on Thursday.
No further details of the settlement were available as WENN went to press.
