Christie Brinkley’s daughter with rocker Billy Joel is proud of her model mother for making her divorce battle with Peter Cook public.
Brinkley, 54, is due to fight estranged husband Cook in a New York court on Wednesday, when their divorce goes to trial.
She filed for a legal separation in 2006, over his alleged affair with a then-18-year-old assistant.
According to reports, among Brinkley’s divorce allegations are claims that Cook trawled the internet for women and porn.
The beauty, who has kids Jack, 12, and Sailor, nine with Cook, has been criticized by her ex and their children’s guardian Theresa Mari for making their divorce proceedings open to the press – but Alexa Ray Joel, 22, has praised her mom’s efforts.
She tells People magazine, “She’s standing up for herself. I think that is admirable. There’s such overwhelming support for her.”

And while he can’t stand having his picture taken, he admits his mom loves seeing him in the newspapers and magazines.
He says, “My mom loves seeing me in the magazines! I try to explain to her not to buy into it because if you do, you feed it (the media frenzy), but when I see them, I’m so vain I just get annoyed about how I look!”

Amy Winehouse is preparing a unique treat for Nelson Mandela’s birthday concert this Friday – she’s planning a duet with The Special Star a.k.a. Jerry Dammers.
The Rehab hitmaker is reported to be teaming up with British rocker Dammers to perform his band’s hit song Free Nelson Mandela – a track he wrote in 1984 to campaign for the release of the former South African president.
Dammers, a staunch opponent of the apartheid regime, organized the 70th birthday concert celebration for Mandela in 1988, despite the politician and anti-apartheid activist being in jail at the time.
He was released on 11 February 1990.
His 90th birthday gig is to be held in London’s Hyde Park on Friday.
