Justin Timberlake bought the first golf course he ever played on

Justin Timberlake has bought the golf course his dad taught him to play the sport on - to save it from developers.
Timberlake is a golf fanatic and plays off a handicap of six.
He confesses he only “got into” the sport six years ago, when he was 20 - but the childhood trip to the Memphis, Tennessee course inspired him to rescue it from being turned into apartments.
Timberlake tells Jay Leno, “My dad taught me to hit a gold ball on this course, when I was 12 years old. They were going to auction it off and turn it into a development, so we swooped in and got it.”
The singer is currently battling his mother’s plans to name the course after the famous family, adding, “My mom wants it to be called Timberlake Trails or something like that.”

Yes because closing a useless piece of land reserved for the rich, retired and elite to make room for more housing is such a terrible idea.

people in Hollywood have way too much money on their hands. just think what he could have done with that money if he had donated it to charity. Instead he now owns a golf course. nice.

At least he won’t have to cut down all of the trees if it’s a golf course. Also, how do you know that he doesn’t give a lot of money to charity? It’s his money, he’s 26, and if he wants to buy a golf course in his hometown, more power to him!!

Who cares what he does with his money: it’s his!! Just because you are rich doesn’t mean you can’t buy stuff; you don’t have to give all of your money to charity. I’m sure there is plenty of housing to go around. I’ve never heard of someone who wants to buy a house, but couldn’t because there weren’t any. I’m sure if you people were rich you would give 90% of your money to charity. Yeah right. I’ll call bullshit on that.

I’m curious to know which golf course here in Memphis he bought. The last thing this city needs is ANOTHER subdivision!! Way to go JT!!
