The designer lied to Sarah Jessica Parker about her dress

Sarah Jessica Parker is fuming after she was tricked into wearing a third-hand dress to the New York premiere of Sex and the City: The Movie.
Designer Olivier Theyskens assured the actress no one had worn or been photographed in the Nina Ricci gown before she slipped into it for the star-studded bash at Manhattan’s Radio City Music Hall last week.
She only later discovered Lindsay Lohan wore the same dress at a showbiz party earlier this year, and socialite Lauren Santo Domingo showed it off to photographers at the Costume Institute Gala in New York just last month.
And Parker is upset by her treatment: “In the big picture, this is not important, but there is a relationship between the entertainment industry and fashion. We’ve watched sales dwindle and we’ve watched people be less inclined to spend money on clothes.
“Look, my affection for the dress hasn’t changed, but what they did was so short-sighted. It’s just unethical and disappointing that they would allow the dress to be worn again.”
She adds of Theyskens, “I just wish it had been handled differently and they had been straight about it.”

Of the three, she looks best in the dress anyways, so what is she whining about?

I can understand her being disappointed. They misrepresented it.

Unethical to wear a dress more than once?!?!?

The relationship goes both ways-the stars get to wear free clothes and the designers get free advertising. It is highly unethical for the designer to tell Parker that the dress had never been PHOTOGRAPHED….and lets face it, if Lindsay even touched the dress it should be burned!

I love SJP but this story kinda pissed me off. Who f’n cares if a dress was worn before? Are you not humble enough to wear clothes like that? The dress was free!!! Personally, I think the dress is ugly. It looks like Xmas tinsel or glamorized foil lol. It does suck that it was worn just last month at the Gala but it sucks even more that it was worn by Blowhan. But still, get over it!!! I bet no one would have even cared or really noticed if they hadn’t opened their mouths about this non-issue. If it was that big of a deal, she should have gone dress shopping herself or had Patricia Fields get something for her.

C’mon, she is right. She is being very professional about it, yet still stating that they simply didn’t tell the truth. This was a big occasion and she should not have been lied to about the dress. You go, girl!

Calling her “HORSEFACE” is just mean….Why so harsh on someone you don’t know personally?

i love that she prefaced her complaint by saying that In the big picture, this is not important but i agree that she was scammed into wearing the dress and that’s pretty crappy.

Because fashion is so very important to Sex in the City show, having original fashions is important.
If the designer out-right lied about it never being worn/photographed, then SJ Parker is totally correct in calling him unethical, and I think she’s demonstrating unbelievable restraint (considering how important fashion is to SITC).
However, if the designer just didn’t keep up with his paper/electronic work and made a mistake, then I wouldn’t consider him as unethical, just a moron unworthy of working with the film industry in the future.

Come on, let’s face it. This wasn’t an off-the-rack, buy it at Nordstrom’s dress. It is couture and was supposed to have been unique for this occasion. I’m not sure unethical was the right word to choose, but I think she has a right to feel like she was lied to. Her problem wasn’t that the dress wasn’t brand new, it was that it had been photographed before. Same thing happened with Reese Witherspoon and the dress she wore to the Golden Globes when she won for Walk the Line.

i hope they cleaned the dress.
