Mary J. Blige lost friends after giving up alcohol

Mary J. Blige lost a lot of her friends when she gave up alcohol.
The star has battled both drug and alcohol addictions during her lengthy career, and decided to give up the party lifestyle after meeting her now-husband Kendu Isaacs in 2000.
Blige insists she had plenty of friends when she was going out and spending lots of money on drink, but when she became tee-total, all the people she considered close suddenly disappeared.
She says, “When I said I’m not drinking any more, I’m not hanging out any more – it was almost like people ran away from me. They just vanished, and it hurt me really, really bad because there was a point where I believed those people loved and liked me, I really did. And that’s devastation.”

It is part of giving up the addiction.
This is why it is so hard for some many people to quit….you lose a lot.
Then you gain more.

There is nothing worse than hanging out with former addicts gone sober. Everything with them is “me me me me me”. AND they are so adamant about reminding you how different things are since they stopped, that it is the basis of all conversation. Like its our fault that you can’t be reponsible with your liquor. Not all of us have that problem, and we can never forget that you did when you keep brining it up. Have a drink and chill!

too bad it took her so long to realize this.

Then if that’s true they never really were her friends. Sadly lots of people love to party and hang out and be seen with famous people. She is better off without them.
