Whoopi Goldberg says Wesley Snipes is a victim

Whoopi Goldberg has defended jailed actor Wesley Snipes and insists he has been used to “set an example” to the American people.
Last week, the Blade actor was handed a three-year jail term by Florida Judge William Terrell Hodges after, he was convicted of failing to file his taxes for five years.
But Goldberg is convinced Hollywood stars who break the law are being used as scapegoats by the U.S government in a bid to deter other people from criminal activity.
She says, “This is not unusual. With tax evasion, (the IRS) gets very, very agitated and if you’re famous they are putting you behind some kind of bar.”

They really need to save prison space for violent offenders and hit “white collar” crime where it hurts the perpetrators: their wallet. Sending Wesley Snipes to prison is ridiculous.

You know what – Tough Crap – He didn’t pay his taxes. So he is just like everyone else. Why since he is black and rich he shouldn’t have to suffer the penalities that everyone else does. You play you pay! He has enough to pay his taxes – Shit he wrote a 5 Million dollar check at the court house hoping that would take care of it. Should have done it when he was suppose to.
I don’t care who you are – We all crap the same time to get treated the same

Unless you are Paris Hilton or Lindsay Lohan or Nicole Richie then you can take drugs and crash cars and get away with it all. I think sending Wesley Snipes to jail is a good thing and it shows that everyone should pay tax, why should he get away with it? At the same time, Paris, Lindsay and Nicole should have done more time.
