Helen Hunt’s daughter is banned from watching television

Helen Hunt’s three-year-old daughter is banned from watching television.
The actress reveals Makena Lei, whose father is Matthew Carnahan - the creator of Courteney Cox’s new TV drama Dirt - has never seen a TV show in her entire life, because her parents want her to enjoy her childhood uninterrupted by bad influences on the screen.
She explains, “She has never seen a television. I feel there’s a lot of time ahead of her to do that. She’s painting and drawing and playing and something is happening with her imagination.”
Hunt isn’t the only star who insists on turning the TV off at home - William H. Macy and Felicity Huffman are also famously anti-television.

Good for her! Too many parents count on the TV to raise their children, use it as a babysitter.

I honestly don’t think there’s anything wrong with allowing kids to watch Sesame Street, The Backyardigans, Super Why, etc, etc. Those shows teach kids about colors, shapes, songs, dancing, etc.
She mentioned bad influences - but I would assume she’s referring to shows that she should never allow her 3 year old to watch anyways. I don’t see what *bad influence* Big Bird can have on a kid, though.
I allow my daughter to watch shows geared towards a 2 year old!! LOL. (but not MTV or Spike)

These celebrities banning tv are hilarious. If she has a problem with tv. She should leave CA and stick to what she knows best. Making Kechup.
