Ryan Phillippe gets political

Ryan Phillippe says this about the war in Iraq:
“I can’t wait for (this war) to be over, and our troops to be home. We’re occupying territory we don’t belong in. We’re there under grounds that were not truthful or warranted.”
Agreed! We have no business there and should never have gone there in the first place.

Agreed. Love him.

OK so now I have to have other’s political views forced on me when all I want is a little celeb gossip. Joc, I hope you aren’t going to let your new people turn this into another place for uninvited political bashing. I have been coming here for years, but will quickly stop, if it continues.

I totally agree with irulanrocks1 - keep he politics out.
March 28th, 2008 at 9:38 am
Oh okay…let the haters come here and blow up something else! You people are ignorant! Damn Democrats!!
March 28th, 2008 at 9:48 am
No politics. I hate when celebs talk about it also. Most don’t know crap and didn’t get a decent education to understand all views.
March 28th, 2008 at 9:58 am
I have to say that it truly infuriates me when these celebrities make their political ideals public. I think it is abusive to their plateform and unfair to average person because we don’t have the plateform to make our political ideas public. Honestly, if people are truly influenced by what celebrities have to say regarding politics and the War on Terrorism, that is truly sad. Celebrities are that celebrities. They’re not politicians and they should their political opinions private. They’re paid to sing or act or design or slap their on something they really don’t have the talent to be working on, they’re paid or elected to express their political viewpoints. This is a gossip website and I think the person who posted this post should keep his or her own since this does belong to them. They’re two things people should never talk about, politics and religion.

DYLI - exactly, well said! I haven’t seen Joc allow this in the past and I certainly hope this isn’t the route this site is taking because this is my first stop every day for celeb gossip.

Irulanrocks1@yahoo.com- Thank you for agreeing with me. I along with you have been visiting this site for a number of years and I will quit visiting this site if it becomes a forum for political expression. I want to read about celebrities. I don’t care to know what they think about politics or what Jocelyn or any of her contributors think about political matters. I urge everyone who is offended by this post to email Jocelyn and let her know that these types of posts are unneccessary to her website. I am an open minded person and I respect everyones political opinions but this is not the place to develop a political discussion. I have family serving in this war and I am hurt and offended when people denounce the mission of the troops. If you agree with the war good and if you don’t fine. But I don’t want to know what people think of about politics at this site. This site is not a forum for political expression. It is a gossip site. I will not visit this site if posts like this are posted. Everything works out fine if people keep politics out of the matter.

I have to say that I am very disappointed that you would allow one your contributors to make their political ideas public. I honestly respect everyones political beliefs even I don’t agree them. I do not think your site is the proper forum for political expression. It’s your site and I acknowledge the fact that I really have no grounds to tell you what should or should not be posted on ICYDK. But I wish you would acknowledge that fact many or some, I don’t know the figure, visitors really wish to not know what your opinions are or your contributors opinions along what celebrities think about politics are. It is unfair to post posts like that because we the average person do not have the platform to express our opinions concerning political matters publicly like you and celebrities do. I hope you take into consideration and create a policy that recommends political beliefs ought to remain private. You have a great site and I hope you would not let it become ruined because of people expressing political beliefs. I believe that there are two subjects people should not talk about publicly and they are politics and religion. Keep your site focused on celebrity gossip, not political beliefs. It is your celebrity gosssip that you put to good use, not your political ideas.

The “war on terrorism”? The CIA recently released documents that state that Iraq/Saddam Hussein had absolutely no connections to Al Qaida or 9/11. So yea, this ‘war on terrorism’ is a little broad if you ask me. It seems like any country that has oil and is generally muslim is now considered a ‘terrorist country’. Screw that.
I totally agree with him, there was no reason to go there other than to benefit financially, and in doing so, the U.S. government is responsible for the death of thousands of their own soldiers.
You people really need to open up your minds.. and maybe read a book or two, before you start criticizing celebrities for expressing their opinions.

Sierra, I respect your opinion. But I do not believe that this site is an appropriate forum for political discussion.
March 28th, 2008 at 12:20 pm
You know Sierra I have to say that you come across as un-American in your statements. Irulanrocks1, No,DYLI, Kittycat, and Anonymous have it right. This country did what it had to protect its citizens. While I like reading about celebrities, I think people are idiots for accepting what celebrities say as factual and great because they are in the public and people are going to hear what they have to say. This is a gossip site not some political website. Get real Sierra!
March 29th, 2008 at 8:24 pm
You guys need to get off your high horse and get a brain. How dare you accuse Sierra of being un-American for speaking her mind! She has EVERY right to say what she thinks, just like you do. Just because she doesn’t agree with you does not make her wrong. Did you not learn anything from the Dixie Chicks?? They turned out to be right all along!! And why can’t celebs voice their opinions? Just because they are celebs doesn’t mean they don’t have a brain. Ryan just finished filming a movie on the war in Iraq and I’m pretty sure he knows what he is talking about. Read, listen, and then speak. Maybe you won’t sound quite as ignorant the next time. Sierra, you go girl. You are the only educated one among these comments on this particular subject.

It so lame to get all hyped up over an idiots opinion. Jocelyn is clearly an idiot and so are her contributors. Glad to say I won’t be visiting this site any longer.
