Idol “stage-dad” brings David to tears
Was there more than just nerves behind 17-year-old DAVID ARCHULETA’s shaky performance on last night’s “American Idol”?
The early favorite was definitely off his game and even forgot several lines during his version of THE BEATLES “We Can Work It Out.” Sources are telling ET the singer may be feeling the pressure from his “stage father” JEFF ARCHULETA, who reportedly yelled at David during a recording session Monday. Sources say dad wasn’t happy with his son’s singing — and even brought him to tears. Reps for “American Idol” had no comment on the alleged incident.

aww poor thing. i feel sorry for him as he seems to be very childlike as a result of an overbearing stage dad. he needs to pull a Macaulay Culkin and divorce his dad until the show’s over if that’s true.

David was great until he took the advice of the judges. He was accused of getting “dreary” from Simon the idiot. Since when is ‘Imagine’ by Lennon dreary? They need to let these kids pick their own music. Totally frustrating, I’m sure David’s choice of song would have been much better suited for himself if Simon didn’t interfere.
ALSO: What’s up with these background singers? They need to go fast.

But if you want your career to be in music…. you SHOULD know Beatles music. He had a week to learn it… and the words to ‘We can work it out’ are not difficult!

Give it a rest, Julia. He’s only 17. And it’s not like he has all week to just learn the words. They run those kids to death, making appearances and working non-stop. It was obvious his nerves got to him.

i love david archuletta! who cares if he screwed up! he’s only human. i hope it’s not true what is said about his “stage dad” – david is such a remarkable young gentleman and if i ever have kids, i want them to be just like david!
