Why Brad Renfro was cut out of the Oscar tribute montage

Why was late actor Brad Renfro cut from the video tribute at Sunday’s Oscars?
“It was really an editing decision because we can’t fit everyone in,” a rep for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences said. “There was no specific reason.”
The montage featured footage of late actors, including Heath Ledger, who passed away a week after Renfro.
Renfro died of a heroin overdose in his L.A. home January 15th.
The actor made his big film debut, opposite Susan Sarandon, in 1994’s The Client. His film credits include Sleepers, Apt Pupil and the acclaimed independent film Ghost World.
What do you think? I know that I only recognized a few of the names, but afterwards, I knew that Brad was missing from the montage. What a disservice to his career!

I immediately felt the same way. I thought that was just plain rude of them to leave him out and blame it on timing. They could have put him in and left out Jon Stewart playing the Wii. Brad may not have been a “mainstream” actor, but he still died way before his time and should have been in there.

The oscar producers are a bunch of assholes, they did it on purpose, well brad’s tatoo was more fitting then he knew (fuck all y’all). RIP brad we love you.

If they could fit in all of those people like agents, etc., then they definitely should have put Brad in. What a shitty thing to do.

It shows disrespect to Brad Renfro and his family. RIP, Brad Renfro!

piaf- yes he was talented! He wasn’t as famous as other CELEBRITIES (he was an ACTOR not someone who loved the attention).
I used to hate the way the academy operated, I like them even less now. It’s all politics.

There was more than enough room…I was disgusted at the omission

Did any of the other people die of a drug overdose? Just curious?

Well I think it was a lot worse they didn’t put in Roy ?Schnider? who was in way more movies and had quite a carrier in his time.

I completely disgusted by it too. What crap!

Yeah Heath Ledger. It doesn’t matter if it’s prescription or heroin. Heath was using the drugs for recreation not care thus a druggie like Brad.

I totally agree with Blondey, 1oo%!!

that was horrible - there was no reason for them not to put him in. there were plenty of other people named that NO ONE has ever heard of. what a bunch of bullshit….

Incredibly lame of the Academy. He was such a victim of this business anyway, that they owed him that. And just because Ledger didn’t get caught with the coke in his system, it was the very thing that led him to the scrips that kiiled him. They weren’t really that different except Ledger had a loving and supportive family and Renfrow had himself. So sad.
By the way…Scheider died after the deadline…he will be in next years montage guaranteed.

Yes, I noticed right away… both about Renfro & Schneider. But Schneider WILL be in next yrs due to the deadline. But Renfro… well, there’s no excuse. So sad. It was the least that the industry fucks could do for him. However small, he contributed to film history. They really shafted him. But you know what, “he” doesn’t care now. He’s in a much better place then all this…
