Brad Renfro urged young stars to stay away from the Hollywood party scene in his last interview, recorded a month before he died. The young actor, who battled a drug dependency problem for much of his career, died from an accidental heroin overdose last month.

In a final interview with Portable Hollywood, he insisted his substance abuse days were behind him, and he was keen to make sure that other child stars didn’t follow his poor example.

Renfro revealed he felt “lucky” to “traverse” his drug issues and “come out on the other side,” telling other young stars, “Stay away from the party scene.” The tragic actor also revealed it was “rough” being in the spotlight, but “I wouldn’t have it any other way, man. I want Brad Renfro to be remembered as a great actor.”
