Angelina Jolie heads to Baghdad!

Angelina Jolie brought her star power to Baghdad Thursday on a mission as a U.N. goodwill ambassador to highlight the plight of Iraqi refugees.
The actress said there needs to be a more coherent plan as the more than 2 million internally displaced Iraqis begin to trickle back to their homes amid a recent lull in violence that had threatened to spark a civil war in the country.
”There’s lots of goodwill and lots of discussion, but there seems to be just a lot of talk at the moment,” Jolie said in excerpts of an interview aired on CNN. ”What happens in Iraq and how Iraq settles in the years to come is going to affect the entire Middle East,” she added. ”And a big part of what it’s going to affect, how it settles, is how these people are returned and settled into their homes and their community and brought back together and whether they can live together and what their communities look like.”
Jolie’s itinerary included meetings with the top U.S. commander in Iraq Gen. David Petraeus, Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki and Iraqi migration officials during her visit, according to the American Embassy.
AP Television News footage also showed the Academy Award-winning actress mingling with American troops during lunch at a dining facility in the heavily guarded Green Zone, which houses the embassy and Iraqi government offices in central Baghdad.

I don’t want to sound like I’m 700 years old… but I really hope she is not pregnant. If she is, she should NOT being going to fucking Baghdad! I am not an “Angie-hater”, I just think this is NOT the place for a woamn who has speculated that she is in a “high-risk pregnancy.” It may all be BS, and if she is not prego… go for her for going over there.

IMO - What? It’s still dangerous in Iraq??!! What are you talking about? I thought the Mission was Accomplished? This is incredible. ANYWAY - whoever posted this blog missed the best part - “Angelina was all talk when it came to discussing Baghdad, but when the interviewer asked her about the pregnancy reports in Hollywood, Jolie quickly interrupted her question with, “Oh, don’t. Stop it. Stay true to your tradition. You’re CNN. Don’t do it!”
When the reporter mentioned she just had to ask, Jolie responded with “But I don’t have to answer. OK?”
And the interview ended shortly after that.”
Say what you will about St. Angelina, but she is NO DUMMY. Don’t make me get into comparisons between Aniston’s and Jolie’s film repertoire.

Erica - you hardly get my point.
I was not commenting on her travels, in a tabloid way.
I was making the observation, from one mother to another.
It is not safe, and she should consider HER children FIRST.

She likes to make the headlines. What is better than a pregnant hollywood star visiting dangerous Baghdad for humanitarian purposes.

No, IMO, I got it - my message was more of a political commentary not one in response to you, personally, but I can understand why there was confusion. And as a PREGNANT woman, I too, question how wise it is to go over there right now. Either she’s not pregnant, or she is pregnant and from her travels, realizes that terrorism and threats to personal safety are alive and well ALL OVER THE WORLD, not just in Iraq? Maybe not the decision I would arrive at, but she is frankly, more well-traveled than I am at this point through her humanitarian missions.
