Naomi Campbell hits out at racist fashion industry
Naomi Campbell has accused the fashion industry of racism and is vowing to boycott designers who only use white models. Naomi, famous for being the first black model to grace the covers of the British and French Vogue magazines, claims labels are using fewer “Black, Chinese, and Hispanic” models than ever.
She says, “I’m disgusted and sad about the whole issue. Fashion needs to go back to the way it used to be when wonderful designers like Yves St. Laurent, Gianna Versace and Azzedine Alaia just had a great line up of beautiful women – white, black, Chinese, Hispanic.”
Campbell claims one particular fashion house refused her clothes, because they “already dress Beyonce“. The supermodel says, “I’ve taken it upon myself to never wear that designer – it’s such an ignorant thing to say.” Campbell is also boycotting an unnamed European designer she claims refuses to use non-white models in its shows.

I think she means Asian… not “chinese”.

Em – maybe, or she could just be using a more specific label since she is referring to a particular model or something, who knows… It’s great that she’s speaking out (particularly for someone who’s never been politically outspoken on ANYTHING as far as I can tell), however I wonder if this has less to do with discrimination of minorities and more to do with fashion houses not using HER old, crazy ass anymore. Thoughts from industry insiders???

Remember, when the politically correct use the term racist, they simply mean white Gentiles who discriminate.
It is a racial slur selectively given to only white Gentiles.
Racist = honky.
So, the translation of the headline would read: “Naomi Campbell hits out at honky fashion industry”

I think she means Asian, too. I can’t think of any Asian supermodels, really, except for Kimora Lee Simmons (modeled for Chanel), and she is half Japanese, or Tyson Beckford, who is part Chinese.

yes, racism is a bad, bad thing….but i can NOT stand this woman.

… Or she might have mentioned Chinese, simply because she has Chinese ancestry.
The previous comments are disingenuous. Take off the blinders and see the fashion world for the racist bubble it can be.
