Introducing Ashley Tisdale’s new nose!
Ashley Tisdale made her first public appearance Friday night since undergoing a rhinoplasty procedure on Nov. 30.
The High School Musical star performed at the Z100 Jingle Ball concert to benefit Autism Speaks at New York’s Madison Square Garden Friday, despite still having some pain and slight swelling from the surgery.
Tisdale reluctantly went under the knife to correct a severely deviated septum and have her twice fractured nasal bones (once from a car accident and once from getting hit in the face while dancing) realigned.
“I’ve known for years that I’ve had a deviated septum,” Tisdale told PEOPLE. It wasn’t until after the 22-year-old toured with High School Musical in South America last spring that she realized the magnitude of the problem. After performing her solo set, Tisdale exited the stage in a panic.
“I was so out of breath, I started hyperventilating,” Tisdale says. “They were thinking it was a heart attack. The [tour] doctor got me an oxygen tank and I sat outside the stage and breathed in oxygen until I could catch my breath.”
Tisdale enlisted the services of renowned Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Raj Kanodia, whose celebrity clientele includes Jennifer Aniston, Cameron Diaz and Ashlee Simpson. Kanodia determined that Tisdale’s septum was 80 percent deviated.
“If I laid down on my right side it was like somebody closed up the right side of my nose,” says Tisdale.
Kanodia tells PEOPLE he’s “ecstatic with the results. “Functionally her nose is better and cosmetically it’s better because I got rid of the effects of the [injuries].”
Now that she’s on the mend, Tisdale says she “never wants to have plastic surgery again.” Why so adamant? “I don’t believe in plastic surgery. I really think natural is more beautiful. This was not about changing me. I am comfortable with myself,” she says.

I am confused, if she had such a ‘hard time breathing’ then how the hell is this clothes pin pinched new nose going to make it any easier? Please. I wish people would just admit they went under the knife for vanity. I personally think it looks bad, a la Michael Jackson.

I love how the pictures are of 2 completely different angles. I bet the nose job isn’t that noticeable if you’re looking straight on. And I doubt that she had major work done, since this is only a week out. I’ve watched enough “Dr 90210″ to know that she would still be swollen and bruised.

Jen I, I totally agree. It’s like those tabloids that claim celebrities have gotten plastic surgery and it’s so obivious that they haven’t. It’s just the photos they’re using as a compare and contrast are from different angles and the way they are working their face.

I saw another pic of her old nose from another angle on another site and it looked like it was bent over to the right, so I don’t doubt she was having breathing problems. My husband has a deviated septum and he snores like a drain unless he is in exactly the right position.

I think everone needs to lay off her whether she did it for health reasons or not. I’m sure if you had a flaw (which everyone does) and enough money to then you would want it sorted out. I don’t see why people are insulting her she’s old enough to make her own decisions. I personally think it looks better especially from the side, Ashley still looks like Ashley to me!

hey ashley i know that you had surgery and you look different….. but that changes nothing, you are the still the same you. i love you and will always love you.i hope you and i get to meet each other someday and can be friends…..and also..don’t mind those mean people who think mean stuff to you. also remember what you said in disey… BELIEVE IN YOURSELF.
