Lily Allen prefers to record in Los Angeles because she hates making her producer leave his family for England - and there are less distractions for her in Tinseltown.
The Smile singer recorded most of her new album - Stuck on the Naughty Step - during her most recent trip to Hollywood and admits she got a lot more done than she would have in her native London. And her producer got to spend time with his family.
She says, “I feel guilty bringing my producer Greg to England, away from his wife… The last trip (he made) wasn’t very productive. I’ve never been good at working in London - too many distractions. (There are) too many people to go out and have lunch with.”
But it wasn’t all work when Allen hit L.A. for work earlier this year - she saw a few movies and checked out Lil’ Wayne at the House of Blues. And for a few nights she stayed in the Chateau Marmont hotel suite where actor John Belushi died.
She quickly downgraded, however, because, “I couldn’t afford it!”

Sienna Miller has decided to move away from her native Britain, following a barrage of negative press over her relationship with married actor Balthazar Getty.
The Alfie star hit the headlines after pictures emerged of her frolicking with the father-of-four on a yacht off Italy’s Amalfi coast in July.
She has since faced a variety of setbacks, including an attack on her London home in which graffiti hooligans sprayed the word “slut” onto brickwork. And now her step-mother, Kelly Hoppen, insists the star plans to move abroad to escape the media spotlight.
She says, “It’s disgusting that she can not live in her own country. Now she’s going to have to leave the country to get on with life. She can’t live here now. Why is it that if a man leaves his wife the new woman gets all the s**t? That doesn’t happen the other way round.”
But Hoppen insists that Miller is not letting the negative stories upset her.
She adds, “We try not to read the papers anymore. She’s actually doing fine. In fact she is great. But we’ve only read one positive article about her ever.”
Miller was recently rumored to be viewing properties in California with Getty - prompting speculation that she will now set up home in Los Angeles.

After two days of glowing headlines for the CW, you just knew everybody’s favorite hard-luck network was going to have a change of fortune: Despite the CW’s stellar start this week with the return of “Gossip Girl” and unveiling of “90210,” Wednesday night’s “America’s Next Top Model” premiere was the lowest-rated in the network’s history.
The two-hour “Top Model” premiere (3.5 million viewers, 1.7 preliminary adults 18-49 rating and a 5 share) was down 11% from last February’s cycle, and down 32% from last September in the adult demo. Among the network’s 18-34 demo (1.9/6), the drops were steeper. It marks the lowest-rated premiere since the show debuted in 2003 on UPN.
Given all the heavy advertising of “90210″ and “Gossip” running up to their premieres, it seems conceivable (if not highly likely) that efforts to promote awareness of the soap dramas may have come at the expense of the network’s highest-rated show. Then again, after running two editions for the past five years or so one would think “Model” fans would either not need too much prompting, or, more probable, feel the show is long in the tooth. This is Cycle 11, which is an extraordinary run for a reality show, and “Model” has slipped in the ratings for a few editions now. If the premiere week ratings horse race doesn’t change over the course of the season, the CW will have a new top-rated series.
SPEAK UP!: Did any of you watch it? I could not believe how TERRIBLE it was. WTF was up with all the Sci-Fi crap!? It was embarrassing to watch!
Here are the pictures from last night’s photo shoot!

Mandy Moore has dated several fellow stars, but she found her latest love interest outside the Hollywood scene: He’s an artist named Andre. “She is really into him and loves that he’s not famous,” says a pal.
Ever since the unlikely pair — she’s three inches taller — met at a party two months ago, they’ve been inseparable. “They don’t go out late and both like being at home. She also loves that he’s down-to-earth,” the friend says. “She glows when she talks about Andre.”
The 24-year old was last linked to singer Ryan Adams, but broke up with him in early July. “She really loved Ryan but he was very immature,” the pal says. Mandy and Andre were spotted departing from LAX together on August 24.

Paris Hilton has forced organizers of the Toronto International Film Festival to cancel two screenings of her new documentary - in a bid to raise the profile of the film.
The hotel heiress is the focus of Paris, Not France - billed as a behind-the-scenes look at her life - which is due to premiere at the Canadian event on Tuesday.
But two advance screenings have now been scrapped, because the star would prefer to only host one showing as it will create “more hype”.
Her representative Jason Moore tells New York Post gossip column PageSix, “We wanted to create more buzz - create some hype. We felt the impact would be more extreme if we had one screening. She is a partner with the documentary and will be attending Tuesday’s screening in support of it.”
Festival programmer Thom Powers insists that organizers are not happy about the cancellations - but they have to obey Hilton’s instructions.
He says, “I wish we could do more, but it’s better than not showing it at all.”
