Nicole Kidman in Marie Claire!

On Marriage:
“They say the first year of marriage is the hardest. Please, God!”
On her husband Keith Urban:
“He’s the most important person in my life and I am for him and that’s where we’re at.”
On turning 40:
“It feels like it’s been a long haul to get here. I’m so fine with it. People want you to have some sort of breakdown, but I’m relieved to be 40 years old – and I’ve lived a life.”
On being misquoted about having a miscarriage:
“I had a miscarriage at the end of my marriage but I had an ectopic pregnancy at the beginning of it.”
On Botox:
“To be honest, I am completely natural – I have nothing in my face or anything. I wear sunscreen, I don’t smoke and I take care of myself, and I’m very proud to say that.”

“He’s the most important person in my life”…. That is why your children call you Nicole. If you were any kind of mother the most important people in your life would be your children.

Why do people ALWAYS have to make their kids number one? I believe that your partner should be number one, they are your rock. This is why 60% of marriages fail cuz women get OBSESSED with kids and the idea of having kids then they put the man in their life on the back burner. If you talk to people who have had the happiest, longest marriages they will all tell you that they put each other first. Women are just so damn selfish it always has to be about them and what they want. Its sickening.

Thank you Melissa, I absolutely agree. The advice I’ve gotten from my mother as well as many other people is that your spouse should be #1. They were there before any children (I’m coming from the viewpoint of assuming you were married before you had children, things might be different in other situations, but I’m just backing up Melissa)and you cannot possibly be a good set of parents to your children without a strong foundation under your marriage. Besides, what a good example to set for your kids of showing them how husbands and wives should relate healthily, and it is good for children to know their parents will always back each other up because then they know who is in charge (it isn’t always Mommy or Daddy taking their side and ragging on one another). It is good for children to see parents loving one another, if either parent puts more emphasis on the children than the spouse then the marriage will not last long. The children will get as much love as they need, it doesn’t take work to love your children (it comes naturally of course!) but it takes time and work to keep showing love for your spouse to keep your marriage alive.
