Angelina’s poppy - what does it mean?

Angelina Jolie is joining British people by marking Remembrance Day by wearing a traditional poppy pinned to her coat.
The A-lister was spotted with partner Brad Pitt leaving a night-spot displaying the bright red poppy in memory of thousands of soldiers who lost their lives in the line of duty.
The 32-year-old prides herself on humanitarian work and has now added the Poppy Appeal to the long list of charities she supports.

Canadians also celebrate veterans on Rememberance Day, November 11th. We also show our support by wearing poppies.

I was just going to mention that. I am Canadian and we wear the poppy to show our appreciation and Rememberance here. The US should think about doing it as well. It is a nice tribute.

An American flag will do. It’s our tradition.

Oh, so it’s the British equivalent of the U.S.’s yellow ribbon? I’ve always wondered what the poppy meant. Very sweet

Uh - I’m American, and the local Veteran’s sell fake poppies to put on your dashboard/pin to your coat for Vet’s Day. I thought it was an American tradition.

In this case, anything for attention. Odds are she has no idea what it means.

It’s nice she’s wearing that, I’ve seen it before; however, you will never see Angelina wear a yellow ribbon or the American flag, she hates her own country, but man, she sure loves the American money!!! she can be truly despicable sometimes.

I’m British, and it’s to symbolise and commemorate the soldiers who fell during the Great War.
