Speaking of Casey Affleck…I think I’m obsessed.
I went and saw “Gone Baby Gone” over the weekend. I’ve been mulling over the movie ever since Saturday, because I’ve been torn over what I would say here on ICYDK.
The movie was good - I wouldn’t say great, I’d say good. As far as I can tell, Ben Affleck did a great job directing the movie. Casey Affleck just steals the show, yet again. I saw him better Brad Pitt in “Jesse James” and in my opinion he should win some sort of award for that performance.
“Gone Baby Gone” is intense. It’s not easy to watch - and there is one scene involving a young boy (same age as my son) that has haunted me since I left the theater. I was a bit disappointed that scene was in the movie - because without it - I would probably recommend the movie to others. This was a dark movie, and honestly - just not my type of film. I know there’s a whole gaggle of people that will like this movie, I just can’t. I think it’s because I have children of my own.
All this said - I think it’s safe to say that I will be seeing any future Casey Affleck film. He truly is AMAZING.

Gone Baby Gone was a really intense book as well. It was written by the author responsible for “Mystic River”. Both books were intense and fantastic, but, I liked Gone Baby Gone better. I cant wait to see the movie. The book has stayed with me for years- definitely gives you something to think about.
I’m happy to hear you say Casey is good in it- I was conflicted about that casting. He didn’t look right to me. Now I really cant wait to go see it!

That’s why I can’t see it with the whole abduction thing it just freaks me out too much. I hate when my brain starts to dwell on all the awful what if’s with kids.

I don’t have kids of my own but I felt the same way Jocelyn. That scene was terrible. I think they could have done the movie without the images. BUT, I still loved the movie. It was intense and had many layers that you were not expecting.
I am totally obessed with Casey and have been ever since Good Will Hunting. I think he is by far one of the best actors out there right now.

Casey was absolutely brilliant in 200 Cigarettes. Can’t wait to see this movie!

Would someone please tell me what the scene was? I want to go see this movie - I am a mom to three boys - unsure if I will see it … at least if have a heads up. Thanks!

Yes, I am a mother of a young boy and I want to see the movie also, so can someone please tell me about this “scene”?! I’d like to be forewarned because as I’ve said, this movie is on my list of must-sees’s.
