For some reason, this made me mad.

Mariah Carey is living the life. Her 12,000 square foot triplex in NYC’s Tribeca district is so big she doesn’t know how many bathrooms she has.

“I don’t know! Do you really want me to try and think about it?” she says in the new issue of Glamour magazine.

The 37-year-old singer has an entire bathroom dedicated to Hello Kitty. “I’ve liked Hello Kitty since I was little,” she says.

She has a 3,000-square-foot closet and a separate closet just for lingerie. Check out her fabulous penthouse for yourself in the November issue of Glamour, on newsstands Wednesday, and see interview excerpts below for more classic lines from Mariah…

On her big break:
“I was about 20. I went from having $5 to getting a publishing advance of $1 million.”

On what advice she’d give to Lindsay Lohan or Britney Spears:
“I wouldn’t want to speak to those people specifically, but I would say you need to be very centered, and spiritually know where you’re at, all the time. Don’t read the tabloids. Don’t be obsessed with what people are writing or saying. Live your life for you. My lifestyle has changed since making it. It’s not a financial struggle, but I’m still struggling in a lot of ways.”

On her difficult childhood:
“I felt really bizarre as a kid. Mostly because I come from an interracial family [Carey’s mother is Irish and her father is African-American and Venezuelan], and because we didn’t have a lot of money and we moved around a lot. Living in the suburbs is a place that’s all about fitting in. I remember after one particularly bad incident, one of my mother’s friends said in front of me, ‘If this kid makes it, it will be a miracle.’”

On wishing she was a genie:
“Wouldn’t it be really hot if I could just blink and change my outfit right now? How amazing would that be?”

On what she wears during downtime:
“…whenever I’m outside, I want to be in a hot tub. I’m a water person. I would jump in the hot tub in the middle of our interview if it weren’t so freakin’ cold out! But usually when I’m just hanging around, I wear boxers and a tank.”

On adolescence:
“Mariah at 12 was a wreck. I accidentally dyed my hair orange. I shaved my eyebrows. Wore blue eyeliner. Disgusting!”

On whether she believes in love:
“With a human being I don’t know, but definitely with a pet. [Laughs.] I don’t think I’ve ever experienced a relationship of the caliber I write about in my love songs.”

You seriously don’t know how many bathrooms you have! WHAT!!!??

What a self-indulgent, ignorant, materialist. And I’m supposed to beleive that she’s spiritual? The spirituality of MEME…, MIMI, whatever!

  2. Amy Says:

Ok, my parents are moving into a 3000 square foot house and I personally feel that it’s too large for their needs (too much to clean, haha!)… that’s the size of Mariah’s CLOSET??! The mind boggles…

She is certainly not even trying to sound down to earth. I have a huge problem with grown women who are still into cartoons, especially Hello Kitty. Maybe its a result of a bad childhood? SHe needs to grow up, shes like a 30yr old 4th grader.

  4. Ritafanofmimi Says:

oh please she does what she wants she doesn’t have to grow up ! In my opinion she deserves everything she has now cause contrary to britney spears or whoelse she has talent and she succeeded because of it. She is not married with kids so why she should be a grown up woman? I love her ’cause she’s independent and doesn’t nee anyone to tell her what to do or what to think! I’m 23 years old and i also love hello kitty does that make me a stupid person? It just means that i have childish tastes which isn’t bad a t all. TO EECH HIS OR HER OWN I SAY! It is sad that a woman who like Mariah Carey who isn’t afraid to say that she loves luxary, is called all the bad names but hey you know what if I was in her shoes I would have chosen the same lifestyle expecially when you know she was born poor! I would rather have her life than Spears life at least nobody knows anything about her private life. I respect her for that besides her amazing voice of course!

sorry for the grammatical errors I was typing like hell!

  6. morgan Says:

No, not a stupid person, just a person with poor taste!

I don’t think that there is anything wrong with keeping some of the things from childhood that made us who we are today. You don’t want to lose all of that. Being an adult is fine, but if you lose the child part of yourself then you will not be your true self. Just because your age changes does not mean that your personality does. You are still going to like some of the same things when you’re older that you did when you were young. Mariah has been in a tough business and done well for many years, so I think that she can do whatever she wants.

  8. Laura Says:

Oh, yeah! If I could be a genie and achieve anything I want just by blinking, changing my outfit would be it… definitely!
    What a braindead b*tch!

  9. Cha Cha Loca Says:

LOL, Laura. I couldn’t agree with you more.
