The pop princess is now a licensed California driver.

ET confirms the news that BRITNEY SPEARS has been issued a California driver’s license.

According to California DMV spokesperson MIKE MARANDO, Spears completed all the requirements and was issued a license late this afternoon at the Santa Monica, CA DMV.

Earlier today, Spears’ attorney told People that not having a current California driver’s license had been one of the reasons she lost custody of her two sons on Monday.

SORRELL TROPE told People: “Specifically, the judge ordered that by 10 a.m. [Monday] morning, both parties show valid California driving licenses. I’ve been unable to produce evidence of that.”

I hope for her little boys sake this is a the first step in her regaining control of her life!
