Love it or hate it: Cate Blanchett’s dress
*IMAGES REMOVED*
Here is Cate at the premiere of her new movie “Elizabeth: The Golden Age” last night.
I don’t think I’m looking forward to any other movie - more than I’m looking forward to this movie. I get chills when I watch the preview - and I loved the first Elizabeth. They should just give Cate the Oscar now.

If anyone can pull it off, she can! I can’t say I really like the dress, but I love her! She’s a fabulous actress, and so classy.

blondey - that was exactly what i was going to say. if anyone can, she can. i just don’t know why she’d take the chance with a caftan (or whatever the hell those fat-women dresses are called) when she usually makes such good choices…

Lettibe, my apologies to you for being an ass in previous comments. I hate the dress, too!

Blondey and Carson,
Cate chooses to wear this dress because being the magnificent artist that she is, she appreciates the work of great designers. This dress is beautifully made with it’s vibrant colour, delicate drapery and fine detailing.
If she were to wear something typical and expected, it would undermine her originality.

Blondey and Carson,
Cate chooses to wear this style of dress because she values originality and craftsmanship, not vanity and fast fashion. If she were to wear something dull and expected, it would undermine the vibrant creature that she is.

I love it, she can definitely get away with wearing something like that! God-awful shoes though!

i think the shoes are ideal - they don’t detract from the colour or intensity of the frock.
on that same note, i wonder who the frock is by? we know she values gaultier and galiano but it looks like the work of neither. any clues?
