Amy Winehouse may have epilepsy

“Doctors ordered Amy, 23, to have the brain scan after she had a seizure during her overdose. It will reveal whether the singer has a form of epilepsy — which could have been undetected until now.”
Hmmm, I don’t know about this. I am not an epilepy expert, but I don’t know how it can go undetected for so long. What do you guys think? I think it’s just another BS doctor excuse for another celeb addicted to drugs.

I don’t know that she has it, but it can be unmanifested. I was 18 before I had my first seizure, and definately have a seizure disorder.

I have epilepsy and I did not get my first seizure till a few months ago. I mean, Im 21, which is young, but it can happen at pretty much anytime in your life. But when they tested me for epilepsy, they did brain scans but the only way I could be diagnosed was to actually have one during a take home eeg or for my dr. to witness it. So she may have it but I think this source is wrong. Plus, she was on like 5 or 6 heavy drugs… that alone could induce a seizure and does not have to be epilepsy.

damn she’s only 23?! bitch looks 40+!! thats drugs for ya! oh and maybe she had a seizure cuz she was on like 100 different kinds of drugs and she only ate a skittle that week!

I have epilepsy and didn’t have my first seizure until I was 23. It can go undetected for a long time. The only reason they have to look for it is if you do have a seizure at which point they an MRI and an EEG to see if you do have epilepsy.

It might be a blessing for her as she can fear a real illness about her and not want to make it happen again. She seems to be greatly embarassed and not liking to out of control in public. Try Bio-feedback

I have had fainting probelm since I was a kid and as an adult, it still happens sometimes. I was tested for epilepsy at 32 after I fainted a couple of times within a two year period. It was negative, but I had not been tested for it before because it was never frequent and I had a really diligent doctor at 32. It was found that I was just a “fainter” by a neurologist. I am now really careful because it is awful to lose consciousness in a public place. For me, it’s a combination of stress, borderline low blood sugar, and my period.
But, from my cautious doctor’s perpsective, it was possible that an epilepsy diagnosis had been missed.
On the other hand, I was not doing heroin or tranquilizers or whatever else it was that was pumped out of her stomach.

She had a seizure because she was on heroine and alcohol and ketamine, not to mention probably a million other drugs, all at one time.
I’m surprised she didn’t die.

There are tons of sites on the internet about Epilepsy where you can learn instead instead of guessing!
Seizures can take on many different forms, depending on where in the brain they start.
Not all seizures are so called “grand mal”, the kind where a person falls to the ground, shakes and loses control over him/herself. Some forms are “silent”, causing maybe short blackouts or attentionproblems. Having just one seizure is not enough for a diagnosis, usually, two are required. Having a seizure while being drunk/intoxicated is not the same thing as a diagnosis.
You can be a baby or 100 years old, seizures are “democratic”; they don´t care about age/gender/religion/skin color/sexuality etc.
I do hope this lovely artist get help and get back on track, EP or not!

This is standard to order a scan after a seizure.
BTW – Having a seizure is by definition epilepsy and amongst the most common reasons to have a seizure is alcohol withdrawal.

It can go undetected. You can develop epilepsy as a result of drug use, and in her case, I suspect this is the case.
As a result of past drug use, a friend of mine was diagnosed with grand mal nocturnal epilepsy. Especially if she’s doing coke and met, that will do a number on her.
Educate yourselves first folks before you come to any hasty conclusions about a topic that you don’t know jack about. It’s not an excuse to excuse her behaviour, I’m guessing 99% sure it’s legitimate.

I had drugs cocktail one night – mushrooms, speed, dope and beer. I got up to go to the toilets and collapsed in the hall and had a seizure for a few seconds. No seizures since though and that was 13 years ago.

Who cares, it’s a complete waster you’re talking about not anyone important.

Hey OCbody.com.doc “Having a seizure is by definition epilepsy and amongst the most common reasons to have a seizure is alcohol withdrawal” is not necessarily true.
It’s different in different countries. In the UK you have to have 2 seizures to be diagnosed with epilepsy, and even then it might not be epilepsy.. it could be non-epileptic attack disorder.
You can have a one-off seizure for lots of reasons – it doesn’t have to be epilepsy.

Wow – I have never seen her looking so damn sexy… she looks amazing… or do I think that just because I can nearly see her mimsy? Either way, I’d like to fill that (probably matted, musty, fishy) cooch of hers with my filthy baby batter. If she does have epilepsy, imagine the handjob she would give mid-seizure… gumph!!!

Dissident,
If she had a seizured while she was giving you a handjob, she’d probably rip the little thing off.
