Cameron Diaz takes on a serious role…

cameronsisterskeeper.jpg

Well, this will be a nice family film.

Cameron Diaz will star in New Line Cinema’s adaptation of Jodi Picoult’s novel My Sister’s Keeper, which is being directed by Nick Cassavetes (Alpha Dog, The Notebook).

The actress will play a former defense attorney who returns to the courtroom to defend herself when she and her husband are sued by their 13-year-old daughter for emancipation. The girl was conceived as a genetic match with the hope she could prolong her cancer-ridden sister’s life.

The movie will be based on the best selling book by author Jodi Picoult. Did any of you read the book?

Yes, the book was awesome. Very heart-wrenching, the things these two girls are put through. I’ll definitely be looking forward to the movie.

  5. kc_christine Says:

completely agree with Jesse D… great book.

  6. Mary Says:

Ridiculous book – who lets their child ride in a car with a man who is so severely epileptic that he needs a service dog – stupid

  7. Kbomb Says:

I did read this book, and recommended it to everyone as it was very, VERY good.

Hopefully the movie will do it justice.

  8. Anonymous Says:

Read it and it’s SO GOOD! I have read several of her books and they are all a good read.

  11. Las Says:

read the book…also LOVE jodi picoult…is it just me or is cameron diaz way too juvenille for this role? i would have loved someone more motherly…hard to see her play an emotionally deep charachter after her panty-dancing days in charlie’s angels..

  12. Katrina Says:

I read it. I read all of her books. I cried through the whole damn thing. I recommend it to everyone! LOL…I’ve even lent my copy out a few times.

  13. IV Says:

I am an avid reader and have to say this is one of the best books I ever read.

By the way **Way to ruin the book for everyone else Mary**

  14. Erica Says:

She can’t play that role. No way. Amazing book!

  15. hayley Says:

the book was amazing! i don’t read alot but this book is really touching…cameron diaz has a lot of work to do to live up to the picoult’s masterpiece

  16. natalie Says:

This is one of the best books Ive ever read. It was so confronting & gut wrenching. Cant wait to see the movie!!!

  17. yo Says:

i read the book and it was great, but i think it is terrible casting to place cameron in that role… i imagine someone more like toni collette playing the mother, deffffinitely not cameron

  18. Nic Says:

Seriously my favorite book ever…… I love Jodi Piccoult but not sure how I feel about cameron in the role?

  19. Janna Says:

Fantastic book!! Never see the ending coming. I agree I don’t see CD as the mom. I think Kate Winselt would be better. They have to pick a strong little girl to play the sister or the whole movie will be wrecked.

  20. me Says:

Great Book! Pictured someone more like Susan Sarandon to play mom character though…
