1-18-08 now titled “Monstrous”?

I’m totally obsessed with ALL THINGS JJ Abrams. I’m the biggest LOST freak there is. So I’m very carefully and thoroughly following all of this 1-18-08 hoopla. You should be to! In case you don’t know what I’m talking about, check out my 3 other posts below. Now - on to possible spoilers??
After much, much discussion, it seems the mystery (and title) of JJ Abrams’ top-secret monster movie may have been solved. A very interesting (and plausible) theory has popped up on the internet.
Okay, so the apparent title is MONSTROUS. Some kid took a picture of a poster at a comic book store, which depicts a headless Statue of Liberty, with the title MONSTROUS spread out across the top and the release date 1-18-08 on the bottom.
Click here for those pictures, decide for yourself!
THEORY–
If you look at the trailer you can see the number 3 being referenced to everywhere. The 63 degrees on the news channel, The 12:36, the 2004 ACE, numbers that are all dividable by 3.
Last, but not least, you hear the thundering monster sound three times, each sound accompanied by a different event.
Romans 1:18 “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness”
So what in biblical mythology has connections to the slew of references in the trailer? The three great monsters.
In Jewish belief, Behemoth is the primal unconquerable monster of the land, as Leviathan is the primal monster of the waters of the sea and Ziz the primordial monster of the sky.
1) The first monster roar is accompanied by an earthquake (Behemoth)
2) The second monster roar is accompanied by a huge fireball (Leviathan, for it can breathe fire)
3) The third monster roar is accompanied by the flying Statue of Liberty head (Ziz).
Not convinced?
The guy who says “maybe we can get a better view from the roof” has the Slusho logo on his shirt. Slusho is a classic J.J. Abrams icon, and it has appeared in both Alias and Lost, which are his shows.
Slusho.jp has, by now, been confirmed as a part of the viral marketing campaign revolving around 1-18-08. Japan. Strangely enough, the character Rob, who is present in the trailer, was gonna fly to Japan a day after that party and the monster events.
Let’s have a look around on that site. Not all pages are accessible. But there is an odd feature about the pages that are available. The main page background is on land, the Downloads page background is on air, and the History page background is on sea.
Furthermore, the six buttons on the main page cause popups of various animals, namely a Horse, a Whale and a Bird. Behemoth, Leviathan, Ziz.
IN CASE YOU’VE MISSED ALL THE HYPE, HERE ARE THE LAST 3 POSTS ON 1-18-08!

Want more? I’ve got TONS more after the jump… FACTS: [Slusho Zoom!]
(Based on JJ Abrams’s letter to AICN and all other info gleaned from reliable sources)
- 1-18-08, for sure. The four pictures on the site.
- Giant Monster involved.
- Handheld aesthetic.
- Slusho.jp. Tied to the flick, implications are nebulous at best.
- Characters: Rob (in the trailer), Noriko Yoshida, Ganu Yoshida, and Ryouta Yoshida - all three mentioned on the Slusho site.
- The movie begins with a ‘clean-up crew’ (or salvage crew, I don’t really remember) that finds a camera and the rest of the film is the playback. The camera is found at Coney Island.
- The sound the creature makes is a BIG clue (from a reliable source, apparently).
- The line “I saw it, it’s a live, it’s huge!” is the biggest clue in the trailer.
- Half of the 30 million dollar budget is being set aside for special effects.
- J.J. will unveil something - likely the title - at the Paramount Comic-Con panel. This is according to Slashfilm. I don’t know their rep, but I assume he’ll at least be at the panel.
NOT Involved: [Slusho ZOOM.]
- August 1st - no longer involved.
- Godzilla, Voltron….all well-known properties and trademarks are not involved.
- Ethan Haas, Albert Pike, etc.
May or may not be involved:
- May be titled Monstrous (see poster at the top, clearer image at the bottom).
- Is there a woman’s voice saying something in the teaser? Is it just the monster’s roar made to sound as eerie as possible?
- Cloverfieldtheparasite = I HP Lovecraft Released It?
- Rampage (nooooo!) - this is a video game that is tonally f-cked compared to this teaser.
- Demon-face in the girl’s hair in the picture on 1-18-08? It certainly appears so…
- He does not say ‘It’s a Lion!’ he says ‘It’s Alive-and…!’*
- Also, The site was registered to Albert Pike and a Henry Kelvin. There was a phone number for one of them - I believe, for Kelvin. The number, when called, provides Landing Instructions for Santa Monica Airport (a recorded message that loops). Santa Monica Airport was formerly known as Cloverfield - the working title for the movie. Coincidence?
- Related or tied into Lost and its sundry threads of self-mythology?
- The Bloop? Lovecraft said that R’lyeh is located at 47°9′S, 123°43′W in the southern Pacific Ocean, with the bloop also being targeted somewhere in that range” Apparently, the noise sounds like bubbles. Are they Ominous bubbles?
PLOT details?: Rob is headed to Japan to work at the Slusho factory, knows something about what’s about to happen in NYC, and isn’t out of town in time to escape. Evidenced by his apparent lack of sheer surprise, as well as the map screencapped on page 62 of this Beast also known as a Thread. This is all pure speculation.
IMDB B.S.: Good Rob projects Bad Rob onto the monster and…something…? This idea is based on a ridiculous numbers game and, well, is bogus - at best.
Vague Idea #77: An end-of-the-world tale that encompasses elements of various religions and ideas. Includes Cthulhu and Revelations, and Grandmother Turtle shaking us off like a bad case of the fleas.
**New(est) Theory:** The Behemoth (monster of the land), Leviathan (monster of the deep), and Ziz (monster of the sky). So, it’s like Godzilla + the POTC Kraken + Q: the Winged Serpent. With Biblical underpinnings. It is supported by a wealth of evidence from the Slusho site and the teaser - making this the most well-supported claim thus far.

What the hell are you talking about???
July 23rd, 2007 at 9:53 pm
I don’t know either, and I don’t have the energy to figure it out. All I heard is that it’s an advertising gimmick to get more hits…???
July 24th, 2007 at 2:24 am
i am SO EXCITED for this movie! i’m always talking about it and my friends think its ridiculous!
July 24th, 2007 at 8:21 am
Oh lord. I always get sucked into these viral things. I don’t want to have anything to do with J.J. Abrams because I hate Lost, but this? It’s just too damn interesting to me. Damn you JJ!
July 24th, 2007 at 10:07 am
This sounds so awesome. Thanx for the info and keeping us up-to-date!
July 24th, 2007 at 10:21 am
YES!!!!! It DOES sound awesome!!! Thank you for the info!!! I’m ready for the movie.
July 24th, 2007 at 11:02 am
what????
July 24th, 2007 at 12:11 pm
I am totally hooked. I love lost and cannot get enough of this 1-18-08 either. Keep up with all your posts please. I got a tip that the web pages ethanhaaswasright.com and ethanhaaswaswrong.blogspost.com were some how connected - can anyone confirm. The right one has a puzzle to figure out and then you get a grainy clip of some sort.
July 24th, 2007 at 12:45 pm
Ok you’ve finally hooked me in with the teasers & this looks awesome. Good stuff.
July 24th, 2007 at 12:53 pm
I want to punch you.
July 24th, 2007 at 1:32 pm
If you don’t like Sci-Fi, don’t read the posts. Duh.
July 24th, 2007 at 2:24 pm
With 15M going just to the effects I’m REALLY hoping this doesn’t suck. Blair Witch had the whole viral thing going and was disappointing - to say the least. But I am GASSED for this to come out.
July 24th, 2007 at 5:11 pm
It’s divisible, not dividable
July 24th, 2007 at 6:47 pm
Just to give you a heads up your somewhat on the right path but you are looking waaay to into some of this stuff the reason for the 3 is because its going to be 3 short HP Lovecraft shorts in one all sorta tied together. That roar you hear i wont confirm but look up cthulu or more importantly read Call of Cthulu you might find some interesting info there. Dont reach your only going to confuse yourself jj loves disinformation as much as you love to find them. all i can say is if your going to comic con ‘click’ ‘click’
July 24th, 2007 at 7:36 pm
There are actually 4 animals on slusho.jp. A bird, a frog, a fish/whale and a horse. My theory was that these represent evolutionary phyla (there are also a jellyfish and crab - two others), and slusho obviously has mutagenic properties.
July 24th, 2007 at 7:37 pm
I agree it’s Cthulhu-tinged, but it has other influences as well (Toro movies).
July 24th, 2007 at 7:46 pm
Also, Ziz is not a Biblical monster, it is from Jewish tradition. The other two are mentioned in the Bible.
July 24th, 2007 at 9:27 pm
The more I hear about this, the more obsessed I become of it. Thanks for the info and the updates! All the theories are interesting, although I really hope it isn’t a voltron movie!
July 25th, 2007 at 12:16 am
There is a review of the Voltron script on Latinoreview.com that sounds like a piece of crap and does not really resemble the teaser (thankfully).
July 26th, 2007 at 2:02 pm
I’m betting it’s NOT the title, it’s one of a series of promotional posters, each bearing a one word adjective describing the film.
July 28th, 2007 at 12:44 am
Yeah, it isn’t titled, and what, now the picture was taken by some kid? I heard the girl who had the poster tried to eBay it? And THEN I heard JJ took the picture so he could sue her for putting the poster up early? Oh, and THEN I heard someone saw the poster in Japan, and took a camera phone video? Wow… The internet is SO wrong…

This excerpt is quoted on http://idothings.info:
“According to In Case You Didn’t Know, biblical lore says that
Behemoth is the primal unconquerable monster of the land, Leviathan is the primal monster of the waters of the sea, and Ziz the primordial monster of the sky.
leading to the conclusion that
The first monster roar is accompanied by an earthquake (Behemoth)
The second monster roar is accompanied by a huge fireball (Leviathan, for it can breathe fire)
The third monster roar is accompanied by the flying Statue of Liberty head (Ziz).”

In recent years there has been a series of video games called “WAR OF THE MONSTERS”. Do a google search for pictures of the characters and you will see that the monster “ULTRA V” looks just like “BLUEBERRY ZOOM” from the Slusho site, also the character “CHOCOLATE RAGE” resembles the Ape monster from those games…the other slusho flavor characters can be seen to look like other “WAR OF THE MONSTER” characters also. Some feedback would be appreciated. I would also like credit for these findings, if they prove to pan out. Thanks

This theory makes the most sense. Also, a clover has 3 leaves usually.
