Hairspray comes out this Friday

Is anyone going to see it? I saw it on Broadway, and it was fun to watch, but then again Broadway and film are very different ball games. Sometimes I am skeptical of movies that try and crossover from the stage to the screen. I think most of the movies that have tried to do the crossover like Rent and The Producers always get mixed reviews.

It was a John Waters movie first. Ricki Lake was the lead in the 1988 version. Movie to stage and back to movie, so wouldn’t that be double-crossing?

If you liked the Broadway play – you should check out the original Hairspray movie starring Ricki Lake. It is a classic. The music from the movie is different from play. I am excited to see the new movie, and a little nervous. Remakes are sometimes hard to do.

I loved the original movie. I saw it when it was first out at a midnight screening. I just can’t see Travolta being better than Divine or even as good as … it wuld ruin it fro me

I’ve never seen the original nor the broadway, but I’m going to see the movie because Zac Efron’s in it. (:

my mom saw it a couple of weeks ago (toronto premiere) and she normally doesn’t like musical-type movies, remakes, or any other “young” teenage-like movies, but she liked this one a lot! she said it was really funny, and very enjoyable.
