I do not understand the adoration this woman inspires. To me she’s pretty enough for her age and for having had children, but very plain. Is it because she *gasp* takes care of her kids? She has to! People shouldn’t get heaps of praise for doing what they should do anyway! Yes, I realize some celebs’ parenting styles seem questionable, but that doesn’t make those that take proper care of their children some kind of saints. She is lucky that she has the money and flexible schedule to provide for her kids so well. Her frumpy mom fan base just idolizes anyone who does ‘mom’ things and has lost most/all of the pregnancy weight.
what the hell are you talking about for her age? shes only 35 for petes sake.is that old? whos said after you have a baby you should look bad? i think she looks great.stop being so mean.
Why must you pick people apart like that? No wonder there are so many women with body issues. Obviously, you’re not happy with your own life, so it makes you feel better to criticize others. Get a freaking life.
I like your post Lila. It’s true about the body issues. Society bases what we should look like, from the “celebrity world”. Check out the celeb world in the 1970′, woman looked natural, aged natural. It was easier to look up to someone without feeling inadequate. Today, woman in the 40’s are comparing themselves to 20 year olds. How ridiculous! It’s totally two stages of one’s life.
Yes, meow_town, let’s look at the bodies in the 70’s. Tab, Nestea Plunge, Scarsdale Diet, ‘Diet Pepsi, One Small Calorie’ and the rest of it…Farrah had about 2oz of body fat. Same goes for the other Charlie’s Angels, none of whom(save Farrah) kept those ultra skinny bodies.
Who looked ‘natural’ and even better, ‘aged natural’ in the 70’s ‘celebrity world’? Methinks you romanticise an era you know little about.
And as far as women in their 40’s NOT feeling ‘over the hill’ anymore, and 60 as the new 40, hats off to women feeling physically better, more confident with more options for quality of life. My mom often says she jogged in the 70s to stay thin, but now does Pilates to keep up with the grandkids now that’s she is 60.
Steph…no need to bite back, but whatever knowledge you seem to “know” about women of the past still doesn’t forgo the fact that you’re one of the problems of the present. As a woman of the 21st century, if you pick apart someone like Jennifer Garner about her body, and whether she’s a good mom or not has nothing to do with it…she’s just trying to be a woman and sometimes not ALL women(celebrities included)have the time to work every single part of their body out to look absolutely “perfect”. And as long as there are other women like you picking them apart, then we’re always bound to feel unsatisfied with ourselves. Sad. Can’t someone has a freaking love handle without someone else making them feel like a big, fat loser?
Who used the term, ‘big, fat loser’? I certainly don’t speak that way.
Can’t always blame others for how one’s feels about something, or someone, including one’s body image. Do people really have that much power? I do not, except what others give me.
Tip of the Day: Byron Katie’s The Work. One of her best books is, ‘I need your love. Is that true?’
People need to free themselves from the tyranny of other’s opinions. Stop being a slave to what you imagine people are thinking and let go of this ‘the media…’ or ‘everyone…’
And fwiw, I’m a mom to four young kids and my body is better than pre kids. Key is never, ever diet (diets make people fatter than when they started), have natural births, breastfeed. Simple (and very low cost burden on health care system, huge benefits to public health).

Looks like she’s gained weight in hip and thigh. Face is still drawn, ears large, but lower body doesn’t look good.
(Yes, I know she is ‘adorable’ and ‘a great mom!’ I’m talking about her physical shape, not her moral high ground)

STEPH- you’re a moron
