Beyonce In Negotiations To Play ‘Aida’
Beyonce Knowles is reportedly being lined up to feature in a film adaptation of Broadway musical Aida. It has been rumoured the Dreamgirls actress is in talks with Walt Disney Studios to play the title role in the Giuseppe Verdi opera.
The lead role has previously been filled on stage by Toni Braxton, and Knowles’ fellow Destiny’s Child bandmate, Michelle Williams.
Aida tells the story of a Nubian princess who is captured by an Egyptian captain.

Broadway musical?? BROADWAY MUSICAL?!! People, let’s give some cultural credit where credit is due. Aida is originally an opera by Guiseppe Verdi. One of the most celebrated opera composers ever - he created La Traviata, Rigoletto, Macbeth, Falstaff, Otello and more! Why was Aida made into a shitty broadway musical (a musical? really? I had no idea)? Because people can’t appreciate opera, stuff needs to be repackaged and consumerized into Broadway pap? Blah, it’s no wonder Beyonce is being sought for the starring role, then. One commercial banality deserves another commercial banality.

um, Alexia simmer down. Creating a movie, play or musical based on an opera in no way deminishes the opera itself.

I agree… no one will top Heather Headly. She’s amazingly talented, and beautiful. Beyonce can’t even COMPARE to her.

well more than actress they need real singers..!! and beyonce can do the both things..!! in dreamgirls she was perfect..!! and i know if she will be in a aida thats gonna be cool..!! christina aguilera she has an awesome bvoice too and i think shes perfect for ammeris..!! guys that film is in 2010..!! so maybe they die before… lol

I love Beyonce but she should not play Aida, her voice is too light! Heather Headley is a real singer too and an actress and she is the original, the part should be hers. Yeah giving Amneris to Xtina is horrible, her voice is too deep and I could see her destroying My Strongest Suit and Every Story. I also heard they are asking Zac Efron instead of the Broadway King, Adam Pascal to do Radames. What the Hell!

HEEEEEUUUUUULLLLL NO!!!!!! he is way 2 young for beyonce and christina (i love the idea of those two by the way) but why not justin timberlake or something. i dont think he’s the best choice but he would be better than Zac. I am so excited that they are doing a movie version of Aida but I really don’t think Beyonce will do it justice she just can’t act. They need to get someone else because Beyonce can’t be the only known person to do the movie.
