Awesome interview with Emma Watson (love her!)
On other girls in Hollywood: “There are too many stupid girls in the media,” Watson, 17, tells Parade Magazine in this weekend’s issue. “Hermione’s not scared to be clever. I think sometimes really smart girls dumb themselves down a bit, and that’s bad.”
On how she views herself: “I’m a bit of a feminist. I’m very competitive and challenging.”
On her start as playing the character of Hermione: “When I was 9 or 10, I would get really upset when they tried to make me look geeky, but now I absolutely love it. I find it’s so much pressure to be beautiful. Hermione doesn’t care what she looks like. She’s a complete tomboy.”
On her family: “I have a really secure network of family and friends. … My parents are both lawyers, and they have no interest in being part of this industry.” I think this is the most important quote! Too many child stars have parents that want in on the fame and fortune. Just look at Lindsay’s mom, total media whore. It’s no wonder some of these girls get so out of control. I am so happy Emma’s family is the non-Hollywood type.
With her parents divorced, Watson – the eldest of seven siblings – lives with her mother in Oxford, where she goes to an all-girls school.
On the rumors that she might (but didn’t) drop out of the last Harry Potter movies: “People can’t understand why I don’t want to be a full-time actress, but school life keeps me in touch with my friends. It keeps me in touch with reality.”
On furthering her education and not dropping out of school: “Let’s be honest: I have enough money never to have to work again, but I would never want that. Learning keeps me motivated.”
What a great interview. She really had her head on her shoulders which I love! I am always so disappointed when cute girls in Hollywood are so lame, and have nothing insightful to say.

What a great post! I love Emma Watson! It’s so good to know that some stars are really grounded and have a sense of self respect. Harry Potter rocks, too.

I agree. Nice to see the money has not gone to her head knowing that she has the money but it seems not to mean that much to her. Her future life and future accomplishements are more important.

Down to earth, everyone drinks in Europe!! I live in Europe and have drunk for a long time but we don’t get drunk or silly with it since were use to it. Like one glass of red wine from time to time has been proven to be healthy. Oh and were not like omg there is alcohol lets drink some like so many american kids.

not only in europe, but here in toronto, there are 12, 13 year olds (that i actually know of) who smoke pot and drink. 15 and 16 is completely “normal”.
i like this interview because she doesn’t say what wants to be heard. it’s actually her opinion.

I love this girl. I saw the drinking pictures and she was definately not drunk and driving. I’m completely in awe of one of the only young celebs in the media who hasn’t flashed her vag, hasn’t been photographed licking a statue’s ass, being seen at clubs at least 5 times a week. She’s got her shit together and lets hope that she doesn’t fall on her ass hard like Lohan, Hilton and Ritchie.

Call me a skeptical, but she only 17… let’s give it a couple years before she realized that while knowledge IS a great thing, she’s rich… therefore, no real need for it to get ahead.

She sounds like Julia Stiles and Natalie Portman. They took their education seriously and you don’t see them getting a bunch of bad press and you don’t see snapshots of them sans underwear. Hopefully Emma stays on this path. She is a cutie.

Wow how sad that they photoshopper her face onto mischa. I mean is this thier way of “sexing” her up a bit. Showing mishas cleavage. I wonder what they both would think of that pic. Seriously what is so wrong with seeing a celeb natural in all of thier HUMAN glory? This is the reason why I don’t buy magazines anymore it’s a waste of money. The internet is GOD! get the same info without going anywhere or buying anything.
