Valerie Bertinelli is plotting a return to the sitcom biz, this time playing a single mother of two.

The former “One Day at a Time” star has signed on to a still-untitled TBS pilot from Sony Pictures Television and writer-exec producer Dave Caplan.

Bertinelli will play a woman who struggles to care for two kids and a lumber business after her husband walks out on her. She’ll also have a producer credit on the project. Caplan’s recent credits include TBS’ “The Bill Engvall Show,” as well as “The Drew Carey Show” and “George Lopez.”

Bertinelli was most recently seen in Lifetime original pic “True Confessions of a Hollywood Starlet.”

Katherine Heigl is a litterbug.

After lunching with her mom at P.F. Chang’s in Santa Monica recently, the actress had to sweet-talk her way out of a ticket for tossing her cigarette on the ground right in front of a policeman on a bike.

“The officer told Katherine to pick up the butt and throw it away in the trash, 10 feet away,” the source says. “He added that he’d fine her next time he catches her tossing trash on the sidewalk.”

He may be hangin’ at hot spots that require valet service now, but just a few years ago, Gossip Girl hunk Chace Crawford was the guy taking your keys.

Chace tells Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS-FM show that in between a break from attending Pepperdine University and landing his G.G. role in NYC, he was a valet driver—and not even a top one at that!

When Ryan asked Chace if he got to wear a red vest on the job, the actor responded, “I wish. I was the rookie…I was running everywhere.”

But don’t think Chace’s valet gig was uneventful. Aside from a confession that he often stole gum from customers’ glove compartments—”a lot of gum, actually”—Chace also recounted his most fearful moment at work…

“Suge Knight came in once, and I got really scared,” he said.

Chace told Ryan he was so nervous during the encounter that he made someone else move the big man’s car.

You’ve come a long way from those car-parking days, Chace, but you can still steal gum out of our glove compartment any day!

First it was the VMA promos (did anyone else who watched them feel slightly uncomfortable for Britney?), then it was rumors of a VMA performance in a British tabloid, and now it’s a chatty hairdresser—all giving us hope that the Britney Spears we know and love is indeed coming back.

Lucky for us, that chatty hairdresser is our very own Kim Vo, the Daily 10’s resident hair guru, who told E! News exclusively that he just may be creating three VMA looks for the “E-mail My Heart” singer.

What could Britney possibly need three different hairstyles for? That info’s way too valuable to be included before the jump…

The first look would obviously be for the red carpet. Vo says he and Brit are still “feeling out” ideas about how that will look.

The second style would be for the show itself, probably something “more chic, like a side ponytail.”

And look No. 3 would be for her PERFORMANCE! That’s right, we said performance. For such an event, Vo and Brit want something “more quintessential Britney.” “Performance” and “quintessential Britney” said together could only mean our girl is definitely coming back to us.

Before running off to his other hair guru gig, Sheer Genius, Vo also offered some valuable advice on how to achieve Britney’s current look. It’s called S-curl, in which he adds “more golden highlights and less platinum” and tops it all off with a conditioning mask.

When Miley Cyrus finally becomes old enough to drive on Sunday, Oct. 5, she can jump behind the wheel – on the Autopia!

Actually, reports Entertainment Tonight, the Hannah Montana star will be celebrating her Sweet 16th birthday party with a special bash at California’s Disneyland, home of the Autopia, the Matterhorn and Space Mountain. As Cyrus says in a special video message on ETOnline.com, “I love roller coasters.”

There’s also going to be a special fireworks display during what Cyrus calls “one rockin’ night … totally awesome.” She’ll sing some songs, too.

The public is invited, as the event will benefit a good cause, Youth Service America, which helps improve the lives of people ages 5 to 25.

“There’s only one world,” says the birthday girl, “and we got to take care of it.”

Priced at $250, a limited number of tickets to Miley’s Sweet 16 – Share the Celebration will go on sale Saturday, Aug. 30, at 9 a.m. PT.
