My cousin Sarah pulled me aside about a week ago, with this really worried look on her face, and said “You don’t really think Violet is cute, do you?” I have always thought that Violet was cute - but Sarah looked at me like I had lost my ever lovin’ mind. So now I’m questioning myself. Sarah says I just think Violet’s cute because she’s Jennifer Garner’s daughter…and if she were any ol’ ordinary baby - I would see her for the bucked up baby she is. So I guess I turn to you. Is Violet cute, or not? How could I have been so wrong!? Haha.

I think the older Violet gets….the cuter she gets. It’s her smile and those dimples that do it for me. She just always looks so happy. That says a lot about Jen and Ben’s relationship. If you notice….Angelina and Brads kids never smile. They always look like the proverbial deer caught in the headlights.

Plus, she looks like such a happy baby, I’ve never seen a picture of her throwing a fit or crying…and I have an 18 month old, so I know how they can be at this age!

I’ve always been on the fence with Jennifer as to whether she is pretty - but I’ve always thought she seemed like someone fun and I love seeing the happy and NORMAL family she has with Ben and Violet. I really imagine they’d be fun people to know and hang out with, not the overprocessed party crowd or the thinking too much about image crowd. They seem genuinely happy together. And I do think that if you think she’s stunning, you’d think Violet is cute. And if you think she’s a wierd squinty horse faced dimply or normal looking person, you’d see Violet the same. I just love seeing the happiness they have in all their pictures!

No, bless her, she is not a cute baby. When you look at Shiloh or Suri, you think how pretty they are. Poor Violet’s little face is all scrunched up, and she’s got mommy’s ears that stick out, and tiny little eyes. I think she’ll grow and be cuter, but right now…no. Cousin Sarah, I believe you might have been referring to my comment about her eyes when she smiles. I’ve seen plenty of pictures of Violet since she is probably one of the most easily photographed celebrity babies and she has beautiful eyes. That is very plain to see. I decided to comment on this topic because I felt the notion of discussing whether or not a child is “cute” is pretty absurd. Of course she is cute, adorable, happy, whatever you’d like to call it. To bring a child’s cuteness into question is probably one of the most tasteless things I could possible imagine as a mother. I would hope Jennifer Garner or Ben Affleck never stumble upon this discussion as no matter how thick-skinned they are they would be hurt to read this discussion. Actually, I live in Miami where we have our fair share of tasteless people. And no I’ve never thought a child was ugly because they are CHILDREN. I haven’t thought it, much less made it a topic of conversation. I’ve never employed my time in trying to find physical faults in children. It seems rather pointless and tasteless. That’s my opinion.
I agree with Cathy’s comment - celebrities are constantly scrutinized my the media. They are people like the rest of us are, but they are also adults. A baby, whether it be a celebrity baby or not, should never be scrutinized like this.
We all have opinions, and I respect everyones comments here (perhaps with the exception of the “soulless” baby one!). It is understandable that many people will find the mere thought of this subject reprehensible as is evident by the lengthy discussion taking place. Comments that state that are valid observations and, quite frankly, to be expected.

This is discussion is a little silly since what kids look like as one and a half year olds doesn’t mean much because they change so much …The cutest celebrity baby I remember ever seeing was Rumer Willis (yes Im old)…The kind where you just stop and go awwww… But since we’re doing it my two cents is that Violet is adorable but then I like Jennifer Garner and I think that does color how I think of her because she looks so much like her mother. JEnnifer is unique in that you look at her one way and shes beautiful then a moment later she’s weird looking and then she smiles and looks adorable. And I think Violet has those same changeable looks. That’s why you never see agreement in whether Jennifer Garner is beautiful or not. And why Violet is causing the same differences of opinion. These are not the best Violet pictures but shes darling. Matt Damons baby looks like a troll, Suri is wierd looking/cute and Shiloh looks like a blob. Kingston is cute and Sean Preston can be wierd looking and can be cute at other times like Suri. My two cents I’m sure you all won’t agree with it & who carees?

As a mother of 3, it is natural to see a kid and think whether the child is cute or not. It’s just a fact that some kids are cuter than others. As for it being a bad thing to do, unfortunatley - it’s life. People are judged on their looks. As for celebrity babies, we just see more pictures of them. Some babies are weird looking when they are younger and grow into their looks, which is what I think Violet will do. It really is just fun gossip - everyone can have a different opinion. J

Okay, first of all I want to appologise to Jennifer Garner if she ever reads this. Because how much doesn`t this hurt. I am a huge fan of Jennifer Garner. What the hell has happened to this site?! It normally doesn’t throw around such superficial and hurtful comments about people (especially babies and teenagers).
Discussing a baby’s cuteness or a teenager’s facial features in a public forum is wrong! Sure, you can and probably will do it in private but that doesn’t mean this discussion has to brought out to public where the persons in question might be exposed to the discussion. Not everything that is okay in private is appropriate in public! When you see a mother with a child on the street then you wouldn’t start discussing the baby’s cuteness in front of her. What is happening in this forum is no different from that (except that people can hide behind anonymity and be as insensitive as they please). Everyone scrutinising Violet’s cuteness should also post pictures of their own kids (or pictures of them as a kid) and see what it feels like to have that scrutnity directed at them.
It’s a shame that ICYDK has stooped this low.

This might be a long-forgotten topic by now but I’ll just respond to Jocelyn’s and Sarah’s comments.
What I meant by stooping too low what that ICYDK was encouraging people to discuss Violet’s cuteness in this forum. Proceeding with my previous example, this is the same as stopping random passers-by on the street and asking their opinion on whether a baby was cute or not in front of the baby’s mother. I know that Jennifer Garner may never come across this discussion, but at the same time, she could; and so could Violet or her friends in the future. Moreover, who’s to say that Rumer Willis hasn’t already seen her looks deemed so horrible by this site that her head must’ve got stuck in the birth canal. This was a downright insulting remark by ICYDK (hence, the stooping low).
Obviously ICYDK doesn’t have control over what readers say in their comments but it does have control over how it judges people in its own comments, and what it encourages people to comment about.
Also, freedom of speech doesn’t mean that one has to say everything out loud just because one can. There are a lot of nasty gossip sites on the Internet that suffer from verbal diarrhoea but I used to think that ICYDK was different from the likes of Perez Hilton. For some reason I expected to see more sympathy (or just politeness) from a woman and a mother in questions concerning the appearance of children and teenagers. When I encountered a more insensitive attitide in these questions then I did feel that ICYDK had stooped too low in my eyes.
