Kate Moss And Pete Doherty Blamed For Young Smokers
Supermodel Kate Moss and her rocker boyfriend Pete Doherty have been blamed for encouraging kids to smoke by making the habit “look cool”. Anti-smoking charity Ash hit out at the couple who are often photographed smoking cigarettes or carrying packets.
A spokesperson for the charity says, “Kids still see smoking as cool and that is down to role models.”
Meanwhile, Moss spent $8,000 on buying a pro-smoking piece of artwork to hang in her London home, which features Liar Liar star Jennifer Tilly smoking in front of dozens of packets of cigarettes.
The artwork, which is called Smoking Kills, is one of ten limited edition copies.

Okay, this is true. I’m 15 years old, love Pete’s music, think Kate is beautiful, and think they’re over all awesome. I don’t smoke, but, thinking about it, they do look very cool doing it.. :/
damn, i want to be cool like them

Why is it that all these spokepeople for organizations promoting the protection of children can’t get it through there heads that yes in fact children are able to think for themselves. Perhaps its too scary of a thought that in fact no one may be directly influencing them to bring a gun to school and kill there schoolmates and that they come up with it by themselves.
I suppose though if there is to be blamed place upon anyone its much easier to blame celebrities and those in the public arena, instead of blaming those who have a much larger influence than any celebrity, parents, administrator, teachers, etc. How about we look at how parents have or chose to work so much they don’t see there kids, or school administators are more concerned about kids bringing money in more than there education and introduction to society.

this is total BS. since when are adults scolded for having adult habits? its their perogative if they want to smoke, and who the hell is trying to say rock stars and models are role models? i thought role models were tachers and camp counselors? this world is fucked

How is looking like Pete looking cool?

I am (to the point where i’m frightening myself) obesessed with Kate, her style and her life. And yes, she does look disgustingly cool smoking, but in real life she probably has a bad breath, yellow teeth and spotty skin…and well, i’d never do it. What works on the screen and in photograhps is often totally misplaced in reality…i’d really wish people were better at splitting the two…

Kate Moss looks cool doing anything.

Horseshit. I cant stand these two, but if you watch any old movies they are smoking away. These 2 idiots shouldnt be blamed for smokers. Oy.
April 27th, 2007 at 12:41 pm
both of them look disgusting… i don’t understand how anyone can think that what they represents “coolness”. i step over people that look more together than they do when i’m throwing out my trash.
admittedly, i’ve never heard babyshambles or the libertines, but if their lead singer represents the rest of the group, i wouldn’t want to be in the same room as them.
it absolutely blows my mind to wonder why both of these people haven’t been thrown in jail…especially pete. there’s enough evidence on any blog site to throw a normal person in jail for the rest of their lives, yet for some reason this scumbag still walks free and earns mad cash. you decide which one i’m talking about…

Emma, please tell me that was sarcasm.
What I can’t figure out is why anyone would think those dirty, greasy….things look cool.
Do adults really think all kids are so stupid that they will brainlessly do whatever anybody halfway famous does? Anyway I hope they aren’t. That’s scary.
Good thing I just turned 18 so I’m not susceptible to those kinds of influences any more, right? Or is it just that now it would be OK to give in to them? How does that work again…
April 30th, 2007 at 11:02 pm
p.s. big mclargehuge, I agree with you one hundred percent.
You’d kind of think that people like Lindsay Lohan *cough*underage*cough would at least get their hand slapped for blatantly ignoring the rules of our society.. such as NOT DRINKING ALCOHOL UNTIL YOU’RE 21!! But no, now she deserves pity because she’s already been through rehab or AA or whatever when she’s, what, 19? Please…

Pete’s a great role model
He’s a grrat lyricist and he achieved so many A grades in school.
He makes me want to do well in in school especially english.
And he makes me want to read classics like Oscar Wilde as these are people who inspired him and i want to see in what way they did.
So he’s not a bad role model.
