Angelina fights for Global Action For Children.
Angelina Jolie appeared at a press conference today to announce the formal launch of Global Action for Children (GAC). GAC is a nonpartisan advocacy organization focused on increasing funding by $2.5 billion per year by the US government for programs that support orphans and vulnerable children and provide free primary school education in developing countries.
Angelina said:
“The numbers associated with this problem are staggering. It is overwhelming and the scale of the problem seems to give many an excuse for inaction. In many ways it is better to think of these children one by one – each deserving of our care and attention, each being of equal value, and each being a test of whether justice – or injustice – will prevail”
Jennifer Delaney, Executive Director of GAC added, “Angelina Jolie is a global leader on children issues. We are thrilled to have her as the honorary chairperson of the GAC Board. Her support of GAC helps us to ensure that orphans and vulnerable children in developing countries and the communities that care for them get the support they need.”

She couldn’t con a legitimate agency to allow her to speak (show her face) on their behalf so yet another money sucking ‘charity/watchdog’ has to be created just to appease her ego? Isn’t there already too much money tied up in paying for these so called ‘charity’ groups’ salaries?
Look at the jobs they are advertising for this group… I see lots of charitable work there along with hefty $alaries.

Something else to keep her away from home and her children. Its nice that she helps, but charity begins at home. Someone else is raising her children.

I do not understand all the hatred towards her. She works tirelessly to help people around the world, especially children. Get over your petty little prejudices, people and open your eyes! Thank god for Angelina Jolie & I wish more people were like her.

I agree with you Jesse, I find the negativity baffling. Would we like her more if she were out partying like Brittney Spears? What has Paris Hilton done to solve world issues? Still it’s not good enough, people love to hate her and somehow this makes her worse of a parent then Alec Baldwin.

Okay, I am not a fan of her… honestly, just don’t like her. BUT, why are people making comments about her not being with her children? This is a job for her (the charity work). I spend 9 hours a day away from our child… at work. Does that make me a bad person? She’s not at clubs, she’s working.

I absolutely agree with Jesse. And if you were really paying attention, you would notice that in almost every picture of her on this site, she is with her children. F-K is right: this is her job, and she’s damned good at it. So, suck up all of your jealousies and wish her well. She is not the enemy, she is one of the good ones! What a great and beautiful role model she is. No wonder Brad loves her.
