Cate Blanchett will be reprising her role of Queen Elizabeth I for “The Golden Age,” co-starring Clive Owen and Geoffrey Rush.

“The Golden Age” is the sequel to the 1998 critically acclaimed film “Elizabeth” which earned seven Academy Award nominations, including one for Best Picture and a Best Actress nomination for Blanchett. The sequel will follow the relationship between Queen Elizabeth I and the explorer Walter Raleigh (Clive Owen). Geoffrey Rush returns as Queen Elizabeth’s close friend and ally, Sir Francis Walsingham.
