Kim Basinger hires a bodyguard for her daughter.
Kim Basinger has reportedly hired round-the-clock protection to keep ex-husband Alec Baldwin from their 11-year-old daughter.
According to the New York Post, the Oscar-winning actress stepped up security around her Los Angeles home after Baldwin called daughter Ireland a “rude, thoughtless little pig” during a recorded telephone conversation. (Go here to listen!)
The actor has since apologised publicly and in private to his daughter after the conversion was leaked on the internet.
A friend of Baldwin’s tells the Post “This is a desperate plea for sympathy when the only danger to the child is inside her own home.
“What kind of parent leaks a voicemail that causes her daughter significant embarrassment and unneeded attention?” Baldwin has been barred from seeing his daughter until a 4 May court date. His spokesman says, “Alec truly cares about the best interests of his daughter.”

I always thought Kim was a marginal, mediocre actress who was given an oscar because the academy has no sense for judging talent. Apparently, I was wrong, she is an amazing actress. This is probably her best role, playing a loving protective mother to a child she and Alec have equally damaged and exploited because they’re both self-involved narcissists. Yes, Alec was wrong to call his daughter a pig and to loose his temper. If Basinger released that voice mail she is way worse than Alec.

You can’t marginalize child abuse. The way he treated his daughter is the issue, and whether this came out now or 10 years from now when the child writes her tell all is irrelevant. The voicemail release is not what is damaging this child - it’s the abuse she’s suffering at the hands of her father. It’s sad to see some people are buying this publicists spin.

What Alec did was inexcusable and definitely abusive to his daughter. But I ask you this? What the hell makes what Kim did by releasing that tape any less abusive? Both of those people are sick, abusive parents and neither one deserves to have custody of that child. That poor kid is going to end up a drug addicted freak like Paris, Britney and Blohan.
